Well, things weren't turning out the way they were supposed to. At all. Although I was glad that I could be in the company of Dom, this was by far the most awkward and uncomfortable situation I've ever been in. I genuinely wished that I could just be upstairs in my room right now, sitting on my bed with my plate of food and watching Netflix.

I bit into my burger once we were all seated after I had excused myself upstairs to put on a shirt.

I swear to Goddess I've never been more embarrassed by my dad in my entire life as much as I was now, I groaned internally.

I couldn't agree with you more, Silas grimaced as we watched my dad scarf down burger after burger. He's disgusting.

My dad looked like a child with all the fresh red ketchup stains on his old faded white t-shirt and the remaining food around his mouth and lips.

I blushed in shame as I silently ate the rest of my burger, praying to the Goddess that Dom and his parents hadn't noticed. But, of course, the next time I glanced up I could see the confusion in the eyes of Dom's parents as they stared at my dad. I couldn't blame them, the man was acting like a five-year-old child, not someone who was in his forties.

Even my mum was looking at him with horror and shock in her eyes as she stared at her drunken mate. She may not have been much better than my dad in many ways but she at least knew to respect those of higher power and not show the 'darker side' of our family around people.

"So," my mum cleared her throat to bring everyone's attention away from my dad. "What brings you here, Alpha and Luna? We're delighted to have you, it's just a visit out of nowhere."

"We just came to see how Shay was doing, he's been a great help for Dom," Violet smiled softly.

"Oh, that's nice to hear," my mum smiled back emotionlessly.

"So, why is it you couldn't just tell us this earlier, son?" My dad asked with a questioning look. "If you were helping the Alpha out, why hide it?"

"I-I wasn't hiding anything," I stuttered, breaking out into a cold sweat.

"Hmm," he glared menacingly. "If it was nothing, why didn't you tell us about it?"

I looked to Dom for help, but the look in his eyes made my heart stop in fear. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but he just looked at me as if he was saying 'I think it's time to tell them.' And oh, boy was it not the time to tell them.

"Well, if you want the truthful answer, Phil," Dom started looking between my dad and me while I furiously shook my head with wide eyes. "Shay is my mate."

The room went silent.

The sound of my heartbeat was the only thing I could hear in my ears as I feared to even look up to either of my parents, I could only stare at Dom in sheer and utter fear.

As I finally got the courage to glance at my dad, my heart sped up, if that was even possible at this point. As soon as our eyes met it was like something inside of him snapped, like a confirmation that this wasn't a joke. His eyes turned wide with fury, his face moulding into a deep scowl and his breathing began to get so heavy he was now panting.

My eyes widened even further, tears now pricking at my eyes and I quickly bolted up from my chair just as he grabbed the edges of the table and flipped it towards the other side of the room, plates and cutlery being smashed against the walls and floors. My hands shook in terror as I turned around and tried to bolt but before I knew what was even happening my head was hitting the wall behind me, my feet were dangling in mid-air and my windpipes were suddenly being suffocated by the two large hands of my father.

"I knew something was going on!" He growled. "With your constant sneaking around and smart remarks, although, I have to say," he chuckled darkly. "I never thought you of all people would be fucking the Alpha."

My vision was blurred with tears that continuously streamed down my face and black dots that signalled that I was close to unconsciousness. My own hands scratched at my dads in an attempt to get his hands off but it was no use as his grip only got tighter and tighter.

Just as I thought he was about to snap my neck and finally end my pain, a thud was heard and I dropped to the ground gasping for air and clutching my sore neck. I could sense people kneeling beside me now and asking questions which only came out as muffled and distant while my vision was still blurry and uneven.

I was gently guided so that my back was now touching a wall so I could catch my breath and once my vision and hearing started coming back I finally looked around to process what was happening.

Dom's parents were beside me, calling my name out several times and asking a bunch of different questions and as I looked more around the room I saw my dad and Dom, with my mate on top of my dad brutally beating his face with eyes blacker than the night sky. He looked ready to kill my dad and I believe he would do if no one stepped in to get him off.

"Dom," I tried to yell at him to stop but all that came out of my throat was a small squeal instead.

"Dom," I tried again, this time managing to muster out his name, although it was hoarse and barely audible.

His fist stopped mid-air and he quickly got the hint that it was enough as he stood up, glaring down at my dad one last time before hurrying over to kneel by my side.

"Are you okay?" He asked with concern in his eyes.

I didn't trust myself to speak so I just nodded instead and he hugged me tight as a response.

"Thank Goddess," he sighed in relief.

I wrapped my shaking arms around his neck, closed my eyes and nuzzled my nose in his neck, taking in his intoxicating smell.

When we parted my mum came running down the stairs with two backpacks in each hand which she handed over to Dom.

"I've packed your stuff," she announced shakily, obviously still shaken by everything that just happened. "You should go before he gets the strength to get up."

Dom nodded, his usual serious face overtaking his features again although the worry was still there in his eyes. He grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers and slinging both the bags over his other shoulder. We headed towards the front door, hand in hand, with his parents, closely following behind and as I looked around my home one final time, my eyes landed on my mother.

She may not have been the worlds best mother out there but right there in her eyes, although it was faint and you could barely tell, there was a hint of acceptance in there and that was enough for the tears to finally start rolling down my cheeks.
