"Today's the day," I stated.

I wrapped my arms around Shay's waist, nuzzling my head into his neck. His scent filled my nostrils, calming down my mind.

"What if they don't accept me?" Shay questioned, resting his head on top of mine.

"It's pretty common to have a male Luna these days," I said. "So far the only one who has been against the idea of it is your father."

"But what if he's not the only one?"

"They know where the door is," I kissed his neck, earning a hum of satisfaction from my mate.

"Do you think he'll show up?"

"Your dad? Maybe, who knows," I shrugged. "But you need to shut your brain off from overthinking so much"

"I can't help but worry," he sighed.

"I know," I nodded. "But your only job is to look pretty like you always are and enjoy the afterparty. I promise everything will be okay."

"So no public speeches for me?"

"Only if you want to, but it's not necessary."

Our outfits had already been picked out, Shay had to use some of my old clothes that no longer fit me but were still in good condition. Shay grabbed his pile of clothes for tonight and headed towards the bathroom

"Feeling shy?"

He turned around to glare just as I took my shirt off, catching him off-guard.

"I'd be lying if I said no," he grumbled, closing the door behind him.

I scoffed to myself, continuing to undress and change into a pair of formal black trousers and a white short-sleeve button-up with the first few buttons undone. The shirt made it seem like my muscles were about to rip open my shirt but they outlined my tattoos very well.

The door to the bathroom opened and Shay walked out with his fresh pair of clothes.

"You look adorable," I stated, admiring him in his black turtleneck sweater and jeans.

"That's not the look I was going for," he scoffed.

"Well, you're pulling it off quite well," I teased.

Shay and I left my room, making our way downstairs to speak with my parents before we headed outside to deliver the news of their new Luna to the rest of the pack.

"You're not nervous?" I asked Shay.

"Only a little, I think it's finally kicking in that we're taking over an entire pack," he explained.

"We'll be okay," I grabbed his hand.

We entered the kitchen where my parents were standing chatting amongst themselves until they looked up and saw us.

"Look at you two," my mother smiled, walking over to the two of us. "You both look so handsome."

"Thank you, Luna," Shay smiled.

"Ah ah, starting from today you're the new Luna," my mother chuckled.

"Are you not sad that you have to officially give up your position?" I frowned.

"It's a little earlier than I hoped," my mum shrugged. "But this finalises your mate bond and give us the chance to rest and focus on each other. I couldn't be happier about today. You'll be a fine Luna, Shay, I'm sure of it."

"Thank you," he nodded. "I'll do my best."

"I'm sure you will."

Jordan walked through the kitchen door leading to the field where the pack was gathered, waiting for us.
