Shay Kingsley

"Wake up, princess."

I sharp stinging sensation crossed my right cheek, jerking me awake. My eyes opened and started adjusting to the dimly lit room I was in. I tried to move my hands but they were tied behind the chair I was sitting in. I tried to move my feet but they were tied tightly around the chair legs too.

My head was killing me.

"Finally, you're awake," a man smiled across from me. "You've been out for a couple of hours now, I was kind of getting worried we knocked you out a little too hard."

I looked beside him at the smaller, quiet figure next to him and I was instantly awake. Trinity. She had her head down, not making eye contact with me.

"Dude, I don't know what the fuck you want me for but at least let her go," I begged.

The man paused for a second, turning between Trinity and me. Then he let out a loud laugh and continued to laugh, bent over and holding his stomach until he had tears streaming down his face.

"You want me to let her go?" He chuckled.

I nodded.

"Do you not remember who was the one to knock you out?" He asked, now calming down and wiping his tears away. "Dear Trinny here was the little trickster who smashed a brick against your head and dragged you to our car."

My eyes widened. The memories all flooding back to me. The shopping trip, all the fun we had, the way we bonded and finally, getting to the parking lot.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked him in horror.

"Oh, did you forget to tell him that too, dear?" He looked towards Trinity, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and bringing her close. "I'm Jasper, her mate."

"You're Jasper?" I whispered.

"The one and only," he grinned ear-to-ear. "Future Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack."

My blood ran cold. My heart was pounding against my ribcage, feeling like it might pop out, each beat harder than the last.

"What do you mean, future Alpha?" I asked. My throat was dry and sore so my voice came out quiet and hoarse. "I thought you were only a Beta."

His eyes flashed red, storming over to me. His fist hit my cheek hard and the chair that I was sitting in fell to the side. I choked on my breath, eyes wide with fear and fresh tears.

"I guess she did tell you about me," he chuckled darkly. "I'm not going to be a Beta for long. No, like I said when the time is right, and it'll be right soon, I WILL be taking over the Blue Moon Pack. I don't care who stands in front of me or what it takes to get there."

"But why?" I asked hoarsely. "Why do you want our pack so bad?"

"Because neither of you deserves it," he snarled. "Dom can barely even control himself and you? You have no idea how to run a pack, hell, you can barely take care of yourself."

"Were you behind the attack last night and the one in the cafe, then?" I questioned.

He lifted the chair I was in back onto its four legs and stood back before he spoke.

"Yes," he nodded. "But also, no."

I frowned.

"You see," he started, lighting a cigarette for himself. "I told them to go after you, give you a little scare and put Dom on edge a little. And then last night too, I wanted to simply scare you both. Give you a little taster of what was to come. But I specifically told them not to hurt you, that was my one condition."

He huffed out a breath of smoke before continuing.

"But as I can see even Wyatt went overboard," he nodded towards my neck. "Nobody listens to me. But they will once I'm the Alpha."

"You won't win," I shook my head. A sudden wave of bravery washed over me. "You think Dom will let go of his position if you kill me? He's not weak. He won't give up his position that easily."

He glared through gritted teeth.

"You're right, to a certain extent. But what if he's so concerned with his injured and kidnapped mate that he doesn't see us coming?"

"You still have to get through the warriors," I scoffed. "You're forgetting that our pack is one of the biggest in the country. You really think you have a chance against us?"

"And I think you're forgetting the position you're in," he growled while stomping over to me.

His cigarette still lit, he pulled down my shirt, exposing my collarbone and pressing the lit bud against my skin while holding me with one arm. I hissed in pain, writhing around under his hold, trying to get away.

When he was satisfied with the damage he had caused he pulled the cigarette away, continuing to huff on it. I groaned in pain. That would definitely be leaving a scar.

"Save your energy, Luna," he smirked. "The show is just beginning."
