Shay Kingsley

I could already see the large black Nissan that Dominic owned waiting in the car parking lot, not far from the entrance of the shop. I felt a bubble of excitement rise up that he actually came and that I would get to see him again. It was exactly seven o'clock and he was here, like he said he was.

I quickly finished wiping down the remaining tables and went to grab my coat but Lizzie came out of nowhere and stood in front of me, blocking my way. She had an all too familiar sinister, sweet smile with her hands innocently behind her back. I raised my eyebrows, looking down at her small frame and having a bad feeling about what she wanted from me.

"Hi, Shay!" She grinned.

"Uh, hi," I said awkwardly, trying to step aside her and grab my coat but she followed my movements and blocked me once again.

"I was wondering if you could do the rest of my chores for me? I haven't been feeling well for the past hour, I have terrible period cramps you see and I really wanna head out early."

"But-"

"You only need to mop up, empty the bins, lay out all the table cloths and put away the dishes. Please?" She whispered, giving me her best puppy eyes.

"Fine," I sighed.

"Thank you! Thank you!" She beamed, dragging me into a tight hug to which I awkwardly hugged her back, for a brief second, before she let go and burst out of the small shop.

I looked outside to where the black Nissan stood, debating if I should go out and tell Dominic. The more I thought about it, it would seem rude to possibly let him sit there waiting in the pitch black for Goddess knows how long.

I exited the shop, walking over to the black car which stood with its headlights and engine still on. I tapped on the drivers seat window which rolled down and exposed Dominics confused face.

"Hey, um, I have to stay late and I don't know how long I'll be so you can just leave if you want." I said.

"I'll wait," he stated.

"It's fine," I frowned. "I really don't know how long I'll be and I'd rather you didn't stay out here in the pitch black by yourself."

"Then how about I accompany you inside?" He smirked, glancing up at me.

My cheeks flushed red, a pleasant shiver running down my back which didn't go unnoticed by him and only made his smirk wider.

"O-okay, but I warned you," I rolled my eyes, trying to play it off.

I stepped aside and waited for him while he got out of the car and stretched before heading back inside into the warmth of the small cafe.

"Do you want anything?" I asked.

"I'd only be giving you more work to do in the end," he shook his head, sitting down at one of the tables I had cleaned earlier.

I frowned, walking away from him and quickly making a hot chocolate for him and grabbing a blueberry muffin before walking back to him and setting it on the table in front of him. He paused his typing and looked up from his phone with a confused frown.

"I told you I didn't want anything," he sighed.

"Well, take it as my sign of appreciation that you're waiting for me," I stated with a soft smile.

His eyes softened, the intensity in his intimidating face had relaxed a little and it looked like he was almost in awe.

"Who told you I liked blueberry muffins?" He asked, glancing down at the large muffin on the table in front of him.
