"Dad?"
For a split second, a shimmer of hope flowed throughout my body. Was he here for me? Did Dom send him? Then I remembered who my dad really was.
And I was reminded of it just as I looked up to his cold eyes. They held no emotion. None whatsoever. The shimmer of hope faded just as quickly as it had arrived.
"I'll leave the two of you to chat," Jasper beamed, leaving the room and shutting the door behind him.
He stood there, watching me with an unreadable glint in his eyes. The silence in the air and his staring made me uneasy. This was my dad, after all, I had a very good reason to feel uneasy. Especially after what happened the last time I saw him.
"So, you're the new Luna, huh?"
My throat went dry. I had no idea what to say back to him, underneath him I couldn't even think of myself as something as powerful as a Luna. I decided silence would be the best option.
"Ya know," he came closer to me. "After everything that's happened in our family, I really didn't think that there was anything else that could go wrong. That you would fuck up. But I guess I was wrong about that, wasn't I?"
"I thought you wanted me to be mated into a high ranking family," I said. "I mean, that's what you used to tell me growing up, 'get a powerful, rich, high ranking mate, maybe then you'll have some sort of a purpose in this life.' You said that."
"Yes, I did. But I never told you to become a homosexual."
"You know how this works," I sighed. "You know I didn't pick him. You just love coming up with excuses, you always have, as long as it wasn't your fault everything went well."
He snarled, grabbing my cheek roughly and bringing my face closer to his. I rubbed my wrists together, making sure that I could still move them freely.
"You're a disgusting excuse for a son," he spat. "I'm ashamed to even call you my son."
"And you're a sorry excuse for a father," I chuckled. "I never complained about it."
That was it, that was all it took to tip him over again, for his temper to get the better of him. His foot came swinging, hitting me right in the chest and knocking me out of breath. My body fell to the side roughly as I panted to try to recover.
'Now is the time,' I thought to myself, breaking my wrists free from the loose ropes and gripping his foot. He was caught off-guard by my escape from the ropes which gave me enough time to pull his body from under him and have him crashing against the cold floor. His head crashed against the hard floor, enough to slow him down but not enough to kill him or knock him out.
Now it was my turn to switch as I straddled his hips and tightened my fist, smashing it against his face. I heard a pop and blood rushed out of his nose soon after.
All the years of abuse, the name-calling, being treated like a slave rather than a son, all the things that he put me through came flowing out of me after that one hit and after that, I couldn't help myself.
"You think I asked for a useless father like you?!" I screamed, hitting him again. "A father who drank himself to death rather than give a shit about his own son? The year's of disappointment that you never failed to remind me! You think I asked for that?!"
I hit him again and again and again. Pop after pop and crunch after crunch was heard. At this point, I didn't know if that was his facial bones breaking or every single knuckle I had.
"You were the one to ruin this family," I panted, lowering my fist and gripping his shirt. "YOU fucked up your relationship with mum, YOU decided to drink your problems away instead of facing them like a man. And YOU are the reason that I'm such a massive disappointment."
My cheeks burned with hot tears trailing down my face. I seemed to be crying a lot lately. I looked down at my dad, he was still conscious but I fucked up his face so badly you could barely see any of his skin under all the blood covering his face. He didn't even try to get me off him, he could only groan in pain and try to breathe through his bloody nose.
"And yes, I'm the fucking Luna."
I stood up slowly, glancing down at my dad for a while before I realised. My wrists were free. The door was unlocked. My blood pumped through my veins, excitement and adrenaline coursing through my body.
Finally, it was time to go home.
I hurry over to the door, clutching the doorknob and jolting it open. I stepped a foot outside, there was a long corridor; I could either go left or right. I chose right. I sprinted down the corridor upon hearing footsteps a little further behind me.
I reckon I had about a fifteen-second head start before they would be running towards me. I urged my legs to go even faster, turning a corner and noticing a wooden door just metres in front of me. I burst through the door, finally outside in the outdoor world. Fresh air finally reached my lungs.
Goddess, it was blissful.
I snapped myself out of the short moment in awe and wasted no time in sprinting through the forest, my feet thundering under me. My heart thumping in my ears. I had absolutely no idea which way was home but for now, I just had to get away.
As I weaved between trees a howl was heard coming from the direction I had just escaped from and heavy stopping followed, inching closer and closer. I dived to the ground, shifting mid-air and letting Silas take complete control. After all, the forest was his speciality, not mine. And if there was one thing that Silas did bloody well it was running.
And thank the Goddess that he was given the gift of being such a fast runner because Jasper and his wannabe pack were close behind us now. But Silas ran on effortlessly.
...Show off.
I hadn't realised how worn out my body was until I let Silas take control, the true heaviness took over but it didn't come as much of a shock to me. I mean, I was almost drowned, whipped half to death and had the air knocked out of me by my dad. Not to mention my wrist killing me from hitting so much and so hard. Eh, he had it coming.
We had managed to lose the majority of the group, well, they were a lot further behind and it would take them a good long while to catch up to us. The only one still chasing us, to no surprise, was Jasper. He was about a tails length away from us.
Silas's ears perked up at a sudden new sound that was now in our range of hearing. A main road. Perfect. We ran on, thinking we can cut Jasper and the rest of the group off if we crossed the nearby road.
But we didn't get very far. Jasper's wolf tackled us down to the ground, his teeth snarling above me and going to chomp down on my neck. Luckily, Silas jerked his head away in time and Jasper's head went hurtling into the soil instead.
Silas pushed Jasper off and went straight into snapping his teeth around Jasper's spine. Jasper howled in pain before he pushed against us with all his might, sending us both tumbling around on the floor. Silas and Jasper fought for dominance, each snapping their hard against another until Silas saw an opening and clamped down his jaw on the other wolf's front right paw.
Silas didn't even stay to hear the whimper of pain before he was already off towards the road, determined to lose the group that had caught go incredibly quickly to their so-called 'Alpha.' My wolf pushed on, jumping out onto the road in front of a honking truck that just missed us by an inch or two.
We continued across the thick road, swerving past vehicles that each barely missed crashing into us. When we finally fully crossed onto the forest on the other side of the road, we didn't stop running but I knew we were safe now. Silas had outrun them and there was no way the lot of them would be able to navigate their way through all that traffic and make it out alive.
The only reason we did was pure luck.
And stupidity.
Pure luck and stupidity.
