"What the hell was that?" My dad growled as I walked out of our large hall room where the party was being held.
"Do I really have to explain myself?" I glared, walking past him and over to the counter in the kitchen where I downed a glass of alcohol, conveniently placed for me.
As I went to grab another glass a hand stopped me and I glared my father who had a weirdly concerned look on his face.
"I get why you're upset, son, I do," he sighed. "But you can't be upset with him forever, especially not now that he's your sisters mate."
"We can't trust him," I growled. "I don't give a shit whether or not he's Trinity's mate, I will hate him up until the day he's six feet under. I thought you would understand, considering how much you hated him for what he did."
"Now what makes you think I don't want to tie him up and beat him senselessly until he's no longer recognisable?" He smirked, making me chuckle and relax a little knowing he was on my side. "I don't like or trust him either but for Trinity's sake we need to play nice. I stand with your decision to have your sister live with him, and so does your mother, but don't go trying to attack him for no reason. You've just gotten your title and I highly doubt you want people to think you're a ruthless Alpha who doesn't have a clue what he's doing."
I sighed, knowing he had a point, like always and downed another glass. The burning in my throat that came after managed to ease my mind and calm my body.
"He's a shady fucker who's way too overly confident," I glared.
"He sure is," my dad chuckled. "Do you remember when you were younger and Trinity and Jordan always teased you for how short you were? You always crossed your arms over your chest, pouting and glaring at them.."
We both laughed at that, remembering the good memories of our younger selves.
"Now look at you, taller than not only both of them but your old man himself," he smirked.
"Only by an inch or so," I chuckled.
"An inch is still an inch, do you think I'm shrinking? It would make sense since you took over the Alpha title."
"I doubt it, dad." I rolled my eyes with a small smirk.
We continued our chat for a little while longer, laughing about the good old times when Trinny and I were younger. This was one of the many things my dad was really good at; keeping me calm and de-stressing me when he knew I needed it. My dad and I were more emotionally close, more than my mum and I although I still loved her just as much. I believe it could have something to do with us having a really good father and son relationship but it could also be because he was very much like me, according to him, when he was younger. Although apparently that all changed when he met my mother, who brought him out of his cold shell and as he said "made him the happiest man alive."
Now that I was calm I was getting tired and so I said goodbye to my dad and excused myself upstairs into my bedroom, where I was pleased to see my little mate curled up under my duvets, sound asleep. I quickly stripped down into my boxers, since that was the most comfortable way for me to sleep, and climbed into bed beside him after turning off the lights.
I brought him closer so that we were facing each other, but still had some space between us as I admired his adorable sleeping face. His cheek was pressed against my pillow, his eyelashes were long and curled up and his lips were even more plump and rosey and it was torture not being able to have a taste.
