My phone blared throughout my room, waking me out of my comfortable sleep. I dragged myself out of my bed tiredly, walking over to the other end of my small room, where I left my phone charging last night, to stop my alarm. I sighed, remembering everything that happened from getting home late to my newly found mate walking away from me without another word.
I tried not to dwell on it too much as I took a quick shower and got dressed in a different pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. I checked in on my mum, who was still sleeping in her room, but my father was nowhere in sight so I assumed he must've went to do his pack duties.
I walked downstairs and began tidying up around the house, picking up old pizza boxes and beer cans since my parents hated cooking, cleaning out the fridge from all the old food my parents had forgotten about and not forgetting to hover the living room and mop up the kitchen.
I checked the time, it was currently 9:39am which meant that I didn't have long left until my dad would be back with the Alpha and his family. I had to say, although I was absolutely exhausted with only having around an hour or two of sleep I managed to clean up everything nicely.
I decided to quickly grab all my dirty clothes from my room and throw them into the washing machine and then quickly clean the countertops since they were looking pretty nasty. However, when I was close to being done with the counter, the front door opened and in walked my father, laughing around with the retired Alpha and Luna. It was a quick glance that I took so I didn't realise that anyone else would be with them until the sweet, intoxicating smell of pinecones, cigarettes and cinnamon drifted through my nostrils.
I frowned, turning around and being met with the sexy stranger from last night by the cliff who was stood in-front of the, now closed, front door, staring straight at me.
My father walked over to me, quickly grabbing and dragging me towards the family who were happily smiling down at me, all except my mate.
"This is my son, Shay." My father introduced, squeezing my shoulder harshly and looking down at me with a fake smile. "He's deeply sorry about missing the welcoming ceremony last night but he wasn't feeling particularly well and decided to stay home so he wouldn't give it to anyone else. He's feeling better now, aren't you, son?"
All of a sudden all eyes were on me and I couldn't help but let my eyes wonder to the dark brown ones by the front door, which narrowed as I caught his eyes. I dropped my eyes to the floor and just nodded, deciding to stay silent and let my dad do the talking.
"Oh dear, I'm glad you're feeling better," the Luna smiled.
"Thank you, Luna." I whispered, not daring to stare into their eyes for more than a second.
"Shay, make some tea for our guests," my father ordered in his most faked 'kind' voice.
I wished so badly to scoff and tell him to do it himself but I just nodded and silently did what he asked. I didn't want to be anymore of a disgrace to them than I already was and the last thing I wanted was to embarrass our family name.
I turned the kettle and began making some fruit tea, pouring four cups full of the liquid. I took them two at a time over to the living room where my dad was sat on one sofa and the new Alpha and his family on the other sofa beside it. As soon as I entered our eyes connected but I cut it short and placed the cups on the coffee table in front of him, quickly walking back over to the kitchen for the other two cups.
"Nice house," came a deep, monotone voice from beside my ear.
I jumped, spilling the tea all over my hand and making me hiss in pain. I grabbed some paper towels and quickly bent down to the floor to wipe up some of the liquid that had spilt. My hand stung and was beginning to get bright red but I ignored it.
