Dominic Sullivan

I carried my wolf mate in my arms, stroking his soft fur as I walked. Once we got back to pack territory I led Shay up to the pack's medical ward. It brought back memories of the last time we had visited Terrance for Shay's infected injury.

"Back again, Alpha?" Terrence glanced over to me with Shay still in my arms. "What can I help you with?"

I placed Shay onto the table, he sat down instantly looking between me and Terrance.

"He's stuck in his wolf form," I explain. "I don't know why he won't or can't change back but he just won't."

"Who is this?" Terrance frowned.

"That's Shay, or at least his wolf."

"You found him?" His eyes widened.

"We did," I nodded. "Can you help us?"

Terrance walked over to the table I set Shay on, looking him over from different angles. He stepped back with his arms crossed.

"So you say he cant switch back? Shay, or your wolf, is rat right?"

Shay laid down on the table, looking up at us with a whimper.

"We theorised that his human body is just too exhausted and let his wolf take full control, is that possible?" I ask.

"You would be right about that," Terrance said. "Depending on what he went through during his time away it could be that his human form is just too mentally and physically exhausted. Sometimes what we werewolves do is if things get to a certain point we let our wolf take control for some time until essentially our 'battery' is recharged."

"How long can that take?"

"Goddess knows," he sighed. "For some, it's hours, for others, it's days, weeks or even months. It really depends on the severity of how burnt up the human form is and how slow the recovery is."

"So what do we do?" I frowned.

"We wait, that's the best we can do. Leave him in my care, for now, I'll run a few tests on him and whatnot."

"Alright," I nodded. "Thanks, Terrance."

I left the room, closing the door behind me and leaning against the wall beside it. I closed my eyes to really process everything that had happened. The main thing was, was that Shay was home. He was safe. He wasn't in the best shape but with the help of Terrance, that would be sorted quickly.

"Dom, you might want to come down," My mother spoke through our mind link.

"What's going on?" I replied.

"Come out and see," She said. Her voice sounded off, worried.

Worry was unusual for her. She wasn't someone who worried often, but when she did worry it was for reason. I headed out of the house after peeking into Shay once more to check if he was still there. As the front door closed behind me and I turned around, I could see why my mother had been worried and it was for reason.

Because Jasper was stood outside our house, Trinity by his side and a herd of people behind them.

I looked over Trinity and was surprised that she was in very good condition. Phil was right. For once that useless bastard was right.

"I'm assuming that you managed to find little Shay?" Jasper smirked. "Did you enjoy the little gifts we sent you?"

I glared daggers at him, not letting his words get to me so much. Don't get me wrong, it pissed me off, but their pack was on my pack and one physical move from either of us could turn into a full-on war. I reckoned it was wise to at least listen to what he had to say.

I turned to my left where my family, including my brother and excluding my traitor of a sister, we're stood off to the side. Their faces were painted with worry, concern, hurt. I turned back to Jasper.

"What is it that you came here for? I'm sure it wasn't just for small talk."

"Sadly not," he chuckled. "To put it plainly I need your pack, I WANT your pack and I'm not leaving here until I get it."

"Straight to the point, huh?" I scoffed. "What do you need my pack for? You don't think I'm just going to hand it over to you because you stole my mate, do you?"

"I propose a dual," he announced. "Between you and me, a fight to the death. Whoever is left standing is the rightful Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack."

"Why do you think I would agree to your fight?" I raise a brow. "As far as I see it, you're on our land and we outnumber you by a ton. We could rip you to shreds before you ever have the chance to escape or attack."

He hesitated, thinking it over before masking his insecurity with a chuckle and a smirk.

"That may be true, but it's law that when another wolf challenges you that you accept no exceptions."

"Alright," I nodded. "I accept your challenge."

"Excellent," Jasper grinned.

Everyone within the area backed away, giving us plenty of space as we closed in on each other. Jasper shifted first into a large chestnut coloured wolf and I followed after, his size was no match to me but he was what you could call a 'worthy opponent.'

We began circling each other, bloodlust prominent in both of us. He wanted to kill me for his greed for power whereas I wanted to tear him limb from limb because of the torment he put Shay through.

He dared to lay a finger on my mate.

Jasper made the first move. His teeth snapped at my front leg, gripping it between his jaws and lifting me off my feet. I landed on my back, caught off-guard and just barely missing another snap of his jaws that went straight towards my neck.

I dodged my neck by twisting it so I grabbed a hold of his neck instead and backed him away from me. His legs scratched at my body in an attempt to get away. But my jaws gripped down on him harder each second he failed to get free. Eventually, he managed to grip his jaws on one of my ears, my jaws instinctively letting go of him and focusing on getting out of his grip.

He quickly let go, tackling me which sent the both of us rolling around in the ground for a while, both fighting to get above the other as an advantage. I landed on top, snapping at his face. He dodged each one. If I snapped right he turned his head left. If I snapped left he would turn his head right.

Jasper saw an opening and took it, his teeth digging one of my back legs where my leg joined up with my waist. He pushed me off of him as I growled in pain. I hopped on three legs, unable to take his jaws off my leg before he started roughly yanking my leg in his mouth from the left to the right. Like a dog with a toy in its mouth.

His grip loosened slightly and I was able to slide my leg from his mouth and headbutt him. He whimpered while backing away, obviously dazed and dizzy as he backed away in an uneven zig-zag pattern.

I took this as my chance, diving forward and grabbing ahold of his neck with my teeth. I sent him on his back once more and my grip tightened and tightened. Jasper whimpered underneath me, thrashing his legs about attempting to escape yet again. He tried to go in for another bite out of me but I yanked his neck in a way he wasn't able to gnaw at me.

I hesitated as I was about to snap his neck, my thoughts conflicting and confusing me.

He was my sister's mate. Did I really want to see her suffer the death of her mate?

Then I remembered how she didn't seem to kind knocking my mate out, handing him over to a ruthless tormenter who kept him there for days knowing he had control over this situation. I remembered the cries of pain, the tears streaming down his face, the desperate plea in his eyes for someone to help him.

And no one did. My mate managed to pull himself together through all the pain and exhaustion he was in. He managed to escape while being chased.

I would be an absolute idiot if I let this fucker live.

Those were my last thoughts before I twisted his neck, a satisfying crunch coming from him as the thrashing around stopped, his body eventually going limp under me.
