CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN

SOUTHERN BENEDICTO

"Wait for at least two minutes."

My stomach dropped on the ground like a corpse, blood drained my face as I took in the result.

"If two lines appear, that means you're pregnant." North voice rang in my head like a broken record.

Red. Two lines.

I gasped, feeling the oxygen leaving my body. Oh God, I was expecting this since Genesis admitted he replaced my contraceptive pills with mints, but confirming it was a bitch.

I'm pregnant. How the hell am I supposed to react to this? How the hell am I supposed to tell Genesis? My parents? Oh God! I could imagine my father's wrath. I shook my head and clutched my flat stomach. Yes, I am scared— like the fuck dude, I don't even know how to change diapers! But deep inside I knew I liked this. A part of me was excited and happy. Hindi nasunod ang two to three years na paghihintay namin ni Genesis but it almost a year now since we got married in the private hangar. That day. Oh, the most happiest moment of my life. I mentally calculated and cannot help the smile formed on my lips when I realized three weeks from now was our anniversary.

May pumasok na ideya sa isip ko. Three weeks can be wait, and I'm sure Genesis is going to jump to clouds with happiness.

It was a blessing, a gift, a product of Genesis and I's late night shift in bed. Fine. Day and night hard work.

A knocked on the door made me jump, I quickly hid the pregnancy test inside my pocket.

"Southern? Are you okay?" nag-aalalang tanong ni Genesis mula sa labas.

"Y-yeah."

"You doesn't sound alright at all. Can I come inside?"

"P-palabas na ako!" I glanced my face in the mirror, winced when I saw how pale I looked. I quickly damped my lips with a lip balm to give a color to my lips. Satisfied, I breathe deeply and opened the door, plastering a smile at my awaiting husband.

"I just want to apologise for my stupid behavior. I'm so sorry, wife, please forgive me."

Umarko ang isang kilay ko. My stupid-nonsense frustration toward him came from nowhere rushed back, bit I shoved it away. It was my fault, getting angry without a reason, yet he was the one apologising. Everytime I saw his face I become irritated, insensitive and brutal — yes, because I always wanted to punch his ugly face. Katulad ngayon pero pinigilan ko ang sarili. Hindi patas sakanya.
