"So you drive back down there?" I ask in amazement.
"Yeah, whenever I get a free weekend," he says.
"It must be nice to get away from the busyness of the city," I say.
"And the food there is actually reasonably priced," he says.
"No way, that sounds like a scam," I say dramatically.
"Right," he says with a laugh, "whenever you find yourself in Madrid we have to take a trip back."
"Most definitely," I say with a smile, "well I should let you get back to the party. It was really nice seeing you again."
"Hopefully we can meet up soon," he says giving me a hug.

I'm walking back to my table when he calls me out again.

"Hey Raquel, you look beautiful tonight," he says.
"Thank you, you cleaned up well yourself," I say with a smile.

When I see Antoine is still talking with some Atletico players I decide to head to the bar instead.

"Fancy seeing our Golden boy, De Ligt all alone," I say.
"Guess it comes with being the new kid on the block," he says with a laugh.
"What, Messi doesn't wanna be your bestie?" I ask with a laugh.
"Pretty much," he says playing along, "I only know 2 people here tonight."
"I know you and Frenkie are best friends, so who's the other person?" I ask.
"Virgil Van Dijk," he says.
"Ohhh, Dutch friends," I say, "well, you're in luck. I have no idea where Van Dijk is, but Frenkie is at my table if you wanna join us."
"Wait, how do you fit into the Barcelona table?" He asks.
"I'm Antoine's fiancée," I say with a smile.
"Griezmann? He's on his way to becoming a French legend," he says almost excitedly.
"That's what the newspapers say, I guess. I'm really proud of him," I say.
"Who wouldn't be," he says.
"Would you like meet him?" I ask with a laugh.
"I thought you'd never ask" he says laughing.
"C'mon," I say grabbing his hand and walking to my table.

Frenkie, Ter Stegen and their partners are there, but I'm assuming Antoine is still off somewhere.

"Well Antoine is not here, but at least your bestie is," I say with a laugh, "I think Mathijs was looking for you, Frenkie."

The night rolls by and it's getting closer to the end.

"Where's Antoine, I haven't seen him the whole night?" Dani asks.
"I have no clue, I saw him earlier with the Atletico guys," I say shrugging my shoulders.
"You're looking bored out of your mind," she says laughing.
"I am, I don't know about you, but I'm ready to go home," she says.
"Count me in, I'm ready to get this dress off," she says squirming uncomfortably.
"Next year the wives and girlfriends have a party at home and livestream the event," I say with a laugh.
"I'll bring the beer you bring the food," she says.
"And we all wear flats and sweatpants," I say.
"I'm pretty sure you're just describing heaven now," she says with a laugh.

Someone taps me on my shoulder mid conversation. I turn around to see Isco.

"We're heading out now, I just wanted to say goodbye before we left," he says with a smile.
"It was so good seeing you again," I say giving him a hug.
"Where's Antoine?" He asks.
"Your guess is as good as mine," I say with a chuckle.
"Well, pass on my regards," he says.
"I will, see you in Madrid some time," I say before him and his wife leave.

The party starts clearing out and that's when Antoine suddenly reappears.

"Where were you the whole night?" I ask.
"One can ask the same for you," he scoffs.
"Uhm, I'm a bit confused, why the attitude?" I ask refering to his scoff.
"We'll talk about it when we get back to the hotel, let's just go," he says.
"Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure you're blowing it out of proportion," I say rolling my eyes.

We get into the car and drive back to our hotel.

"So?" I ask as we enter our room.
"You clearly enjoyed all the attention you got tonight," he says.
"What attention? I didn't win an award," I say.
"From the guys you were talking to," he says.
"I probably spoke to 5 guys and that was mainly to congratulate them," he says.
"So why were you talking to Isco?" He asks sitting down on the bed.
"Because we come from the same town. We grew up in the same place. We have common ground. He also has a wife and kids. You're being ridiculous, you know Isco and I know each other from when we were kids and it's never been a problem before, why now?" I ask.
"What about De Ligt? I know you don't know him," He asks.
"He was sitting at the bar alone, what did you want me to do?" I ask sitting down next to him.
"Not flirt with him, for starters," he says.
"You're kidding me, I wasn't even flirting. He was looking for Frenkie. I really think you're just being jealous for no reason," I say rolling my eyes.
"I think my jealously is understandable with how you were laughing and having such a good time with everyone but me," he says bluntly.
"Is that what this is about?" I ask putting my hand on his forearm.
"You just always seem to be happier with everyone else, except me," he says looking down at the ground.
"You couldn't be further from the truth," I say running my hand across his cheek, "I wouldn't be marrying you if I thought I could find happiness with someone else."
"It just seems like you're have second thoughts of late," he says.
"No way," I say, "maybe it's just moving to Barcelona that I'm still getting used to."
"I'm sorry about making you up root your whole life back in Madrid," he says.
"If it meant getting to be with you, I'd do it all over again. Madrid's just where I grew up, Barcelona is where we're going to start a family and where we'll make new memories. All the fun stuff," I say lacing his hand in mine.

He looks over at me with a smile on his face.

"I don't ever want you to think that you don't make me happy. Singing in the kitchen while cooking dinner and the nights we sit up on our balcony talking about anything is all I've ever wanted for us," I say leaning my forehead against his.
"I love you so much," he whispers.
"And I love you," I whisper back, "we're in this for the long run."
"I'm sorry for flipping out a second ago," he says.
"I forgive you. A little trust would be nice next time, you know Isco is a childhood friend," I say.
"Deal," he says with a laugh.
"Now that that's cleared up. I need to get out of these heels and into some pajamas," I say kissing the top of his nose.
"I can help getting you out that dress," he says with a wink.
"Ewww," I say with a laugh.
"It was worth a shot," he says.
"Maybe some time in the future it'll work," I say rolling my eyes.
