I nervously pick at my cuticles as I wait for Antoine to arrive. I have no idea how he's going to react to what I have to tell him. Every single phone notification has my heart skipping a beat. 4 false alarms later, I finally get the long await text that he's outside.

I meet him outside, my nerves eating me alive as we walk up the stairs to my apartment.

"Coach tried to kill us today. No doubt in my mind," he says tiredly flopping on my couch and taking a sip of water from his bottle, "how's your day going?"
"I've gotten a response," I say holding my breath.

He immediately sits up straight

"And..." he says.
"I got accepted," I say with the uncertainty evident in my voice.

He gets up and hugs me excitedly.

"Congratulations, I'm so proud of you," he says.

He let's me go. The confusion spread across his face.

"You don't sound happy," he says, "I thought this what what you've wanted since you were a kid?"

"It is. It's one of the biggest companies in Spain," I say.
"So how come you're not bouncing off the walls?" He asks.
"It's just that accepting the offer means moving to Barcelona," I say, "which happens to be insanely far away from you."
"But working for this company has been a dream of yours for as long as I've known you, and I can assume long before we met," he says.
"I know, and I really am happy. It's just...a lot has changed since I told you about that dream," I say.
"Don't tell me you're thinking about rejecting their offer?" He says.
"Accepting it means leaving you behind," I say.
"We can always do long distance.  And it'll be for a few years at most. I won't be in Madrid forever. You don't know what doors working for them might open," he says.
"I don't want to be the reason why what we have falls apart," I say.
"I don't want to be the reason why you stay behind and not live out your dream. You've spoken about this company for as long as I can remember. I don't want you to stay and then 10 years later, you regret not doing it. I don't want to be the reason you never jumped on that plane and did everything you set out to do," he says
"Do you think we'll make it out?" I ask.
"Of course. I'll visit you when I can, you can visit me when you get time off. And one day when the dust settles and everything falls back into place, we will know that what we have is real because it was able to overcome any obstacle thrown at us," he says.
"Do you really believe that?" I ask.
"Wholeheartedly," he says holding my hand.
"Then I think I know what I need to do," I say wrapping my arms around him and resting my head on his chest.
"I'm so proud of you," he says kissing my hair.

I'm snapped out of my daydream as Antoine nudges me.

"Do you want a top up?" He asks referring to my almost empty wine glass.
"Uh, sure," I say bringing my glass closer to the bottle.
"You zoned out for a second there," he chuckles.
"I was thinking about when I moved to Barcelona, I was really terrified it would be the end of us," I say.
"Three kids later, I'd say we made it out unscathed," he says moving closer to me.

I rest my head on his shoulder. I feel my eyes starting to tear up.

"What's wrong?" He asks whipping a tear from my cheek.
"Everything just feels perfect. Like all the stars are aligning," I say with a smile.
"I told you that day, 13 years ago, when the dust settles, we will know that what we have is real because it has overcome so many obstacles. You were always the one I wanted next to me at the end of it all," he says wrapping his arm around me and gently squeezing my shoulder.
"After all these years, you still make me blush like a teenage girl," I say with a laugh.
"Well I had to have game if I managed to win you over in high school," he says.
"The other guys never stood a chance in all honesty," I say.
"I love you," he says kissing the side of my head.
"And I love you," I say.
"It took us some time, had to overcome lots of obstacles, but we made it out. Now it's our time to enjoy this perfect life we've built," he says.
"Cheers to that," I say taking a sip of my wine with a smile on my face.

Taken 3 minutes before the kids woke up from their nap and wanted to swim for the 4th time that day😂

I wouldn't change it for the world, because I love this life we've built Ant❤️
