"Did you ever doubt my love for you? When even you did not love yourself?"

"When I first saw you, I..." Kakashi trailed off. The words having been robbed from his tongue. Yet the smile on his face wouldn't die. He took a deep breath and looked at her, once again mesmerized.

Her red hair stood vibrantly against her milky skin like drops of blood in pure snow and blue, blue eyes like fresh spring sky.

No fairy or befallen goddess
Even saints and sirens
would never compare
To my love, ever fair

"You look more than beautiful in that wedding dress.."

His chest felt tight, his heart pounding. His hands were cold, and the black suit he wore felt like ice on his skin. His feet were cold.

"That night, at the bar. I thought... I'd never seen anyone look more beautiful. Ethereal even. Then you talked to me first, and I thought my heart would jump out of my throat. You were gorgeous."

'And I knew I would never forget... The way you smiled.'

They were alone in the bridal suite. Barely half an hour before the wedding ceremony.

"I just... You know that I love you, right? More than anything. It's more than my own life and if I could do it all over again. The only things I would change were the things that hurt you."

(Hansel and Gretel)

"Shh... It's okay. It's - Hah!" She hissed from the stinging wound on her palm. "It'll be fine. Big sister is here. I'll protect you. It's okay." A seven-year-old red-haired child pulled her baby brother close. Both shivered, the baby boy was crying.

The dark forest seemed unforgiving. In the dead of the night, with even the sky as dark as black. The branches stretched out monstrously and bright eyes watched them ominously.

But most of all it was the dark and the whispering shadows.

The older child desperately tried to soothe her younger brother. Her short red hair that had been in pigtails was a mess. Her tears had dried up and her arms felt numb.

"Please. Please Hemmy. Stop crying, please."

       In distress. Confused. Alone.

"Papa!" The girl cried out, walking in one direction praying over and over that finally she'd see some light or direction out of the cruel forest.

"Stay here. Don't follow me. Don't go back home." Their father said. He was tall. With a sharp jaw and a tall nose, she inherited his red hair. "Look after your brother." Then, the lamp's light quickly faded away into nothing but darkness.

"Please don't abandon us! We'll be good I promise!"

        'Please, Papa. I'm scared.'

Many years came to pass and by fate's design, another pair of siblings were lost in a dark forest, far away from their home. Konoha.
