Kakashi walked out of the Hokage's office and as he passed by, he caught a glimpse of red from the window by the stairway wall. A colour of red he knew and loved all too well.
"Huh? Who's that?"
He saw her, Nhira, more beautiful than before. Smiling and laughing gorgeously without a care in the world. Her vibrant red hair cascaded down and danced with the blowing wind.
He recognised Areayis, Guy's student, 'Who wouldn't? With that striking white hair and its colourful hues. But who's that guy?' There was a man, whose side profile he could see. He seemed around to be in his early 20s.
'Maybe someone she knows?'
The thought crossed his mind, her ex? A former colleague? A root Anbu? Although he seemed confined in the wheelchair, he hadn't looked sickly, in fact, he brimmed with an imposing and regal aura.
Long dark hair, black as the night and eyes as dark as the depths of the sea with a sharp impression upon him. He was in a wheelchair and Areayis stood behind him, it seemed she had been pushing the wheelchair.
Kakashi had never been much for physical appearance but the man was nothing short of flawless, a beautiful handsomeness akin to a god.
'Why do I feel... Threatened?'
And she's smiling like that. To that guy. Kakashi didn't think twice about jumping out of the window, to land a few meters away from them. Then, he was still too far away to hear what they were talking about.
As he got closer, he was able to see her expression much more clearly. Although Nhira had a smile on her face, there was a stoicism to it. A distant cold and a threatening edge.
As soon as he was within earshot, the conversation between the three lulled. Kakashi could hear them as he got closer, not unnoticed by the three people, although two had their backs turned to him.
"Why are you here?" Nhira asked, irked and yet with a polite undertone her arms crossed over her chest. For a brief second Kakashi's uncovered dark eye met Nhira's and a tacit understanding passed them, as she smiled. He heard the man's voice, guttural and gravelly.
"I came here to see someone dear to me, the rest is none of your concern."
She frowned and replied indignantly. "It is since this is my home." Kakashi stopped as he was a few steps away, he noticed the lack of a shinobi's telltale marks on the man. No forehead protector, and even the clothes he wore seemed so foreign. A stiff red collared coat and a loose white shirt underneath.
'It's not in any fashion any of the five villages don.'
"Forgive me then, white witch, for intruding into your territory."
'White witch?'
Kakashi asked in his mind, confused. He never thought he'd see an expression on her face close to rage or aversion since she always wore a sweet smile. Her smile was gone in place of a stiff, jaw-clenched expression. Her eyes were a shade darker and glinting sharp.
'Intruding into her territory? How strange.'
In a blink, those expressions were wiped from her face and Kakashi doubted if she had truly looked menacing just a second before. Nhira smiled, once more. Sweetly, as always and politely.
Kakashi hurried his footsteps and he knew to himself that he wasn't the type to do what he did, yet he did it anyway.
He approached and without a word, pulled his mask down and gave her a kiss, a quick message-bound kiss making sure not to show his face to Areayis and the other man.
