Special Chapter

So, hi! It was my birthday on Saturday just saying. In lieu of that I'm publishing a special chapter.. so it's kind of like a gift to you and me.

Date: September 1

        "Happy birthday, Nhira."

        But she didn't wake from her sleep. Still, he held her hand and greeted her cheerfully as if she were awake. "Come on, wake up now... please."

        "Lady Arien said it's unlikely." Those were words Yamato had told him over and over. 'Yes, I know that but... please wake up.'

        "Wait, did you say it's her birthday today? But isn't today September first?" Kakashi looked up in surprise as Kushina walked inside the hospital ward with a basket of fruit and Minato followed behind her with a bouquet of flowers.

        "Yes, it's her birthday today."

        But Kakashi, upon seeing the confused faces of Nhira's uncle and aunt felt that something was off. And he finally understood what it was when Kushina said, as gently as she could, "Nhira's birthday is November 13th."

         "No- wait, but she said, she told me it's September first."

          'Was it a lie again?'

       "Kushina if I remember correctly, September first is Heimich's birthday."

        "Heimich as in her brother, is that who you mean Minato-sensei?"

         'I wouldn't know because she doesn't talk about her brother that much... but these two, of course, they know.'

         "Yes." It was a simple answer and yet, Kakashi couldn't help but ask, "Why?"

        "Because no one remembers her brother." All of their attention snapped towards the man leaning against the door frame.

       "Itachi."

        "One time, you know that Nhira doesn't talk about her family all that often... Don't you know that to everyone who asks she tells them that her birthday is September first... because that's the only way her brother or his birthday would be remembered."

        'Can you imagine how tragic it would be to just fade away from the world simply because no one remembers you anymore?'

       And once again Kakashi found out one more thing about her that he didn't know before and once again the question rang in his mind, 'Just how much don't I know about you?'

        "So all this time, big sis has never celebrated her birthday? No one's greeted her on that day or... she couldn't have cake on that day."

       Such trivial things seemed to weigh heavily, sugar turning into tears.
