24 | Impossible

"Brayden Anderson." I whisper his name as my heart begins to race.

Did I hear that correct?

No. It can't be true.

"No there's no way." I look up Jesse and then to Carter.

There's no way. That can't be true.

"How could-"

"it can't be-"

"there's no way-"

So many thoughts are running through my brain. I can feel my heart beat racing.

"Millie that's the name I got." Jesse speaks up interrupting my thoughts.

I look at Carter and back at Jesse.

I'm breathing heavily.

Carter starts to walk closer to me and grabs a hold of my shoulders

"Millie calm down...it's okay." He stares into my eyes studying my face trying to understand what I'm thinking.

I shrug his hands off me and start pacing around the small coffee shop

"No no no." I repeat this word over and over again staring at the ground.

What does this mean? No there's no way.

Why would Lucas be seeing that cocky jock from my old  high school!

I stop pacing and look directly at Jesse.

"Are you positive that's the correct name? Like 100%? For sure for sure?"

"Yes I'm positive! 100%!" Jesse practical shouts as loud as he can.

No. This can't be true. I refuse to believe this.

I can't even get the words out to express how I'm feeling right now

"That's impossible!"

"What do you mean that's impossible? Millie what do you want me to tell you! That's the name!" Jesse waves his hands around in frustration.

I can't tell he is getting irritated.

"Jesse calm down! Stop yelling at Millie! Let her just comprehend what she just heard clearly this name means something to her!" Shocked Carter just yelled at jesse my eyes go wide and so does Jesse's.

"Sorry." Jesse muffles out not making any eye contact to me

"I think it's time for Millie and I to be on our way now." Carter walks by my side leading me to the front door without any other words.

As we're walking out I look over my shoulder towards Jesse but he's already back behind the counter of the cashier.

I look up towards Carter as we make our way outside

"Sorry for asking you to come I didn't think that all that chaos would happen." Stops in his tracks as soon as those words escape my mouth.

"Sorry? Your sorry? For what? You didn't do anything? Obviously you know of that name and you were just trying to process the information you just found out nothing to be sorry for-" Before he could finish his sentence his phone begins to ring.

He puts his hand up letting me know he will be right back and he makes his way a couple feet away from me looking down at the ground answering his phone.

"Hello?" A confuse looks forms on his face and looks up at me

"Yeah she's right here." He takes his phone away from his ear and walks over to me holding it out
