"Carter I have to get to class!" I shout walking down the hall to my third-period class as he walks behind me.
"Three more days." He says casually. Is he seriously trying to remind me about this stupid lunch this weekend? It doesn't mean anything and I can assure him I haven't forgotten about it, last time I checked I don't have short-term memory loss and I'm not Dory.
"Yes Carter, it's Wednesday. I'm so proud you can count." With him still walking behind me, I adjust my backpack putting it more secure on my back while turning the corner.
"Thank you, I didn't pass preschool for nothing."
"Carter, as I recall, your next period is the other direction!" I shout behind me knowing that I actually have no idea where his next class is.
"I feel like walking the long way today, is that a problem?" He jogs up to me so he can stand right next to me.
"You promised you wouldn't annoy me" I look over at him with annoyance.
"I said, I would do my best." Looking away to search for my next class I feel a nudge on my shoulder causing me to look back at him again. "Can you believe it's Wednesday already? I mean this week flew by."
"Not because anyone's having fun." Spotting my next class, I lead away from Carter.
"You just don't want to admit that you're actually having fun for once in your life." Standing in the doorway of my class I turn around to face him, having a sarcastic grin.
"Oh yes because it's so much listening to your annoying voice all day!" I roll my eyes at him then proceed to face my classroom again, walking inside getting the last word.
I smile to myself as I step inside, not because of the conversation with Carter but because this is the most normal I have felt in a long time. I feel free and mom and everyone else are starting to treat me like I'm normal again not like I'm going to break every five seconds. I'm finally feeling like I found fresh air and I can breath.
I take a deep breath entering further into my third-period class with a bright smile on my face, something I haven't done in a while. As I look around for an open desk, I notice everyone in little groups whispering and my smile disappears just like that forcing me to present curious eyes.
They're not whispering about me, are they? No, they couldn't be. They know nothing about me. Do they know I can't open my locker?!
Do they know about the incident? No, they can't know. Nobody can know.
I'm probably just being paranoid. I quietly make my way to the back of the classroom and sit down ignoring everyone around me and avoiding any eye contact.
As soon as I take a seat I start getting a little chilly, so I grab a red pullover sweater from my backpack to slip it on over my light color shade of gray t-shirt.
I enjoy having my backpack with me to have everything at all times but I seriously need to figure out my locker combination. I take the rest of my supplies out and set them on my desk just in time because the English teacher, Mrs. Henderson stands up to announce something.
"Hey, class! Today we got a new transfer student, Owen Davis." This transfer kid walks into the classroom making my eyes advert to him while everyone claps. Why are they clapping? It's not like he just won an award.
I look at the transfer kid and start to observe as he makes his way standing in front of the class wearing a white t-shirt and black sweatpants. I can see his Ab outline through the white t-shirt. I shake my head getting my attention off his clothes, I look at his structure he has dark black hair and is fairly tall but his eyes...there's just something off about them. Dark and mysterious.
