Breathing in, I turn around slowly meeting Kyles eyes.

"Why were you with Owen?" He repeats waiting for an answer.

I grip ahold of the staircase.

"I'm going to my room Kyle." He takes two steps towards me, causing me to take a step into the stairs while still holding contact.

"I told you to stay away from him Millie."

"Well that's funny because he told me to stay away from you."

"Why would you stay away from me?"

"Ya know what Kyle, after talking to you both and hearing out your sides I've just been trying to just figure out the motive and Owen doesn't have a motive." Kyle's jaw starts to tense.

"He likes you! What more of a motive do you need!"

"People like people all the time! Doesn't mean he killed someone!"

"How do you know!"

"Because Owen has his own shit going on! Even before he got to really know me! He hardly was even at school all these years because he was trying to sort out his life and taking care of his sister! So yes he liked me years ago but that's all it was! A simple crush!"

"Doesn't mea-"

"Why do you keep pushing this! Why do you keep pushing the idea that it was him!"

"I-" He stands in front of me with his lips gapped open.

"Tell me!"

"I-"

"Exactly! You don't know! You don't have a reasonable answer! But you wanna know what my theory is Kyle!" I step off the stairs marching over to him stabbing my finger against his chest. "My theory is it's you! Y-O-U!"

"Me? You keep saying I keep pushing that it's Owen but you keep pushing that it's me! Why would it be me!"

"Let me spell it out for you!"

"What's there to spell out! We've already discussed this conversation!"

"You're the only one with a solid motive!"

"Not this again! Millie I already told you I was in a relationship with him that was it!"

"Number one! You've been planning to go away to college for years now and with a reputation of being a lady's man having a boyfriend might've not made the first impression you would've wanted! You didn't even want me to know you were in the closet!

"That's not true! I just didn't want anyone to know yet!" Ignoring his comment, I continue.

"Number two! Lucas was still dating me! What a perfect blame and Albi I was for you! Everything fits! It was all so well thought out!" He turns his cheek looking away from me not saying a word.

"You let your fear of not being accepted over power the love you had for him!" As I speak, I see a tear run down the side of his face, followed by another and another until there was to many to count.

"Kyle how could you!"

"I didn't want to kill him!" He snaps but his voice is muffled by the tears he sheds.

"So you admit! You killed him!"

"I didn't mean to!" He runs his fingers through his hair trying to get a grip.

"How could you! Lucas loved you! If he hid you and your relationship from me he must've truly loved you to protect you from even me for as long as he did!"

"But he was going to tell you!"

"So that gives you the right to do what you did!" I can feel my voice breaking with all the yelling going on.

"I tried!"

"You tried what!"

"I tried to stop him! I tried to convince him not to tell you! But he put his foot down and told me he was going to at the end of the night at prom!"

"Over by the punch bowl right?"

"Yes and we sat there arguing until Leila came over and told us this wasn't the place for it and I ended up spiking a drink when he wasn't looking and gave it to him in hopes he would drink it but instead somehow you got ahold of it."

"That's why I can't remember anything! You spiked my drink!" I throw my hands around feeling the rage.

"No! I spiked Lucas's drink!"

"That's even worse!"

"I did what I had to do! I gave him a chance to stay quiet about it and he just couldn't do it!" My heart drops. I feel it shatter. My lip begins to quiver.

"Did you stab him and leave him to die?! Is that why I was questioned about a knife!"

"I made sure he didn't suffer for long!" I gasp and cover my mouth in shock.

"That isn't a no! I'm telling people what you did! You're absolutely sick! You made me think I did it, you pointed the finger at everyone else every chance you got and you would've continued if I hadn't started digging for clues! You probably would've let them take me to jail if they had enough evidence against me!"

"At this point it's your word against mine Millie! And you were already a suspect once! Even mom thought you did it! Why do you think she's been so overprotective of you this past year!" I push him as hard as I can letting my anger out, forcing him to stumble back into the kitchen.

"No she didn't! And I'm going to make sure everyone knows it was you and that you did and exactly why you did it!" He slams his palm against the kitchen counter.

"Don't do something you'll regret!" I hear the back door swing open, revealing mom walking inside all dirty. She must've been working on the garden.

"What is going on in here! I can hear you both yelling from outside!"

"Ask Kyle." I say staring directly at him with disgust.

"Nothing is going on! Millie is being dumb!" He raises his voice sternly, walking towards the stairs. "I'm out of here." He gets upstairs and slams his bedroom door.

"Millie what just happened! You guys never fight let alone yell at each other!" With her eyes wide open at what she just witness, she steps further inside closing the back door.

"Where's dad?!"

"He's not home, he's still at work."

"Fine." I grab my phone from my pocket, rushing upstairs to my room, closing my door.

I grab the card in my back pocket and I quickly dial a number.

"Officer Johnson! I have something you want to hear!"
