"After school? Today after school?" Owen raises an eyebrow at me with confusion.

"Yes, today! But don't worry I can drive my own car when I have to go meet up with her so you don't have to worry about me" He rolls his eyes at me and I play slap his shoulder

"Don't worry I wasn't planning on being worried besides I will probably be occupied dealing with a hungover sister" Owen lets out a deep breath staring at the window I begin to think about the night I was at Owens when I saw his sister drunk and how the house was destroyed.

"Oh, how is Jessica? Besides being hungover?"

"Hurt mostly. I spoke to her this morning before school and she apologized for how she acted and explain everything. She's just heartbroken and is going through a tough time." But- if I remember correctly wasn't she the one who broke Jesse's heart?

"Heartbroken? With Jesse? Wasn't she the one who cheated though?" Owen lets out another sigh

"It's complicated. When our mom left it hurt Jessica the most out of the two of us. First our dad then our mom. She thought the entire universe or the world was against her and thought everyone was just going to leave her so she did what she thought was best for herself so she hurt Jesse before he could hurt or leave her which is completely wrong on her part and she should've handled that in a way better way but I understand where she was coming from" I never thought about that scenario but it's understandable why she acted the way she did. She just acted on instinct without any second thought. I don't blame her though.

"But when I came over she accused me of being a boyfriend stealer?"

"She had no right to say any of that due to her actions but just because she did what she did to push him away doesn't mean she stopped having feelings for him. It's a messed up situation I know but I'm trying to help her through it the best I can" They both have been through so much. It amazes me how dependent Owen can be after everything.

"You're a good brother, you know that? She's lucky to have you." Owen looks over at me once again.

"You would do anything for your brother right?" In a heartbeat no matter what it is.

"Of course. Even though he's annoying half the time, he's my best friend. Plus he always has my back and helps me out of trouble so it's only fair I do the same." Like the time my car broke down at the coffee shop and he came to my rescue even though I got into trouble afterwards he still left school and came to help me.

"Exactly." Not responding we end up sitting in silents for a few moments, Owen pays attention to the road as I watch everything fly by outside the window.

After watching a few birds swoop by, I turn in my seat to face Owen again.

"Do you think Carter will forgive me?" I look down at my lap fiddling with my fingers

"Of course. Once he comes to his senses he will be back to his usual lost puppy dog act." I look up quickly, slapping his arm playfully.

"Be nice!" Owen rubs his arm where I hit him acting like it hurt.

"I'm just speaking the truth!" He laughs at my reaction and continues paying attention to the road.

"Well the truth isn't very nice." I give him a stern-look trying to stay serious but as he continues to laugh, his laughter ends up making me break into a low chuckle.

"Who said I had to be the nice one? Last time I checked he got me into detention after he got all lovesick puppy on me!"

"Well, if you didn't get put into detention we wouldn't be friends right now so you should he thanking Carter for getting you into detention if anything!" He rolls his eyes at me and looks over giving me a look almost like he has glee in his eyes.
