As I sit on my bed I stare out the window into the outside view of the bright golden sun and blue sky with the wind blowing softly causing my curtains to flow around as I watch with a blank expression and tear stains on my face.

My bones are sore from falling asleep in a cradle position so now I have to deal with the consequence of cramps in the muscles of my legs.

I look over towards my clock reading the time.

11:47 AM

I have barely moved off my bed since yesterday evening. I didn't even eat diner last night since I was so distraught.

With my hands locked around my knees, I slowly turn my head to my phone laying against the mattress, my whole body is telling me to turn it on but I don't obey and let it sit there mocking me.

My door swings open, forcing my attention away and towards the doorway to find my mother standing with a apron tied to her waist and a plate of scrambled eggs and french toast in her hand.

"Oh good, you're up. You were asleep when I got back home last night so you must've been really tired to fall asleep in the afternoon, did you not sleep well the night before? Or did studying at the library really ware you out?" She walks the plate over and sets it on my night stand next to my bed. I stare at her not saying anything while she wipes her hands on the white apron.

"Millie, what's wrong?" She gestures to the way i'm sitting and the lack of words but then she looks besides me and spots my phone.

"How did you- Did your father give you your phone back? That man I swear." She picks it up and tries to turn it on.

"Is it dead?" Not knowing how to work my phone, she sticks it out with her left hand to see if its turning on.

"You have to hold the button down." I croak out still strained from crying.

"Sweetie what's wrong?" Speaking in a panic voice, she looks away from my phone and sits besides me trying to comfort me by pulling me into a hug allowing me to lean my head against her shoulder.

"I'm just exhausted." She hands the phone over allowing me to hold the button down to turn it on.

"Sweetie you don't sound ok." My phone lights up as it turns on showing all the notifications from Owen.

"Just studying a lot of information takes a lot out of you." I mumble out staring at the messages.

Millie?

Millie are you ok?!

Millie why aren't you answering?

Ok, I just texted Carter and he said you're fine so why are you ignoring me?

Millie seriously whats going on?

She looks down at my phone and sees the notifications filled with messages popping up.

"Wow, it looks like this Owen kid is trying to get a hold of you, any reason you are ignoring him and his thousands of messages?" I set my phone aside once again ignoring it.

"I just woke up and didn't have a chance to look at my messages." As my head is laying on her shoulder, I look up at her. "You aren't going to take my phone back?"

"I won't take your phone again, but can you promise me to stop sneaking around?" I sit up at her remark.

"But I wasn't eve-" I pause stopping myself from saying something I would regret. "I promise."

She kisses the top of my head, stands up and points to the plate of food.

"Eat, ok?" I nod telling her I will with a hopeful look, she walks out of the room shutting the door behind her. I look over at my food and my stomach starts to rumble. I sigh, grabbing my food into my hands I begin to take small bites.
