"Millie what's the mission today." I say to the bathroom mirror waiting for a response that I ain't going to get.
As I stare at myself in the mirror, I tighten my ponytail to make sure it won't fall out.
"To talk to Brayden Anderson" I say in a mimic voice in response to myself with a serious look on my face.
I grab my toothpaste and put some on my toothbrush. While I begin to brush my teeth then I hear at knock at the bathroom door.
"You know other people need to take showers around here! You're not the only one who lives in this house!" Kyle yells from the other side of the door.
Ignoring his comment, I keep brushing my teeth.
Kyle knocks again but even louder against the door. I slam my hand against the door telling him to stop.
"Yeah yeah yeah! I'll be right out!" I shout out at him with a stern tone in my voice.
I put my toothbrush back where it goes and wipe my face with a towel.
"Geez what's your deal today?!" I fling the door wide open, finding him holding a gray towel in his left hand and clothes in his right.
"I'm so close to cracking this freaking case!! I just have a lot on my mind!" I walk into the hallway allowing Kyle to go into the bathroom.
"Oh really? You haven't really talked about anything since the football game? Care to share?" Kyle says curiously.
"Maybe later! Gotta go!" I exit the hallway rushing downstairs zooming to the front door before getting stopped.
"Hey Millie what's the rush? You're not going to say goodbye before you leave?" I turn around to face my dad who is standing in the kitchen munching on something
"Sorry dad, I'm running super late! I got to go to school!" I walk closer to the front door then stop in my tracks and turn around slowly.
"Wait dad!" I retrace my steps and walking slowly into the kitchen.
"Yes Millie?"
"Can I have my phone back yet please?" I say with a pleading eyes.
"What did mom say?" Dad says walking out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee in his hand.
"Well..I haven't asked her today but last time I asked she said no.." I mumble the last sentence out while following him into the living room.
He gives me a look that says really Millie
"Well then that's your answer. No." I take a deep breathe in frustration. I follow him awkwardly, to take a moment to think of an excuse to get it back.
"But-"
"No buts Millie! No means no!" I walk over to the couch plopping down, molding into the cushions.
"Dad hear me out, what if my car breaks down or gets a flat tire! What if it's an emergency and I can't get ahold of you or anybody because I don't have my phone!" Dad goes into thought with a questioning look on his face about what I just said.
"Okay I see your point. You can have your phone back in case of an emergency but I hope you know we're both going to get into trouble later because of it" A massive grin forms on my face in excitement. That was easy.
"Thank you!! You're the best dad ever!" I jump off of the couch while dad exits the room to retrieve my phone
I eagerly stand still waiting for my phone.
Dad walks back into the living room with my phone in hand.
"Now don't go getting yourself in trouble" He hands me my phone.
