I need to get some sort of school map because I don't know where anything is and I'm trying to find the lunchroom and the only thing that is helping me is the little signs around the school.Looking up at the walls for the signs I accidentally trip over a backpack laying on the floor of the hallway, luckily I was able to balance myself causing me to stay on my feet.
"Who leaves their backpack on the ground!" I yell and huff as I pick it up off the ground tossing it to the side of the hallway instead of the middle of the room. I could've just broken a bone! And as I recall that wasn't the goal of the day!
I think I'm hangry, a good thing it is lunchtime. I've honestly been dreading lunch all day, I mean who wants to be the new kid and sit lonely at a lunch table because you don't know anyone and everyone gives you weird or questionable looks.
Finally finding the cafeteria, I make my way up to the line of people in front of the counters to pick out my lunch which by the looks of it, the two options are nachos but for some odd reason the cheese doesn't look right, looks more like jello than cheese and I have the other choice of really greasy pizza with the sauce oozing off the sides. I look at both the options to eat with disgust but I take the tray with nachos anyways.
This day just keeps getting better for me. I think after today I just need a vacation for a whole year.
Walking around the cafeteria with my lunch in my hand, I look around for an open seat but from what I can tell the cafeteria most seats are already taken. How do people get here so fast? Well, it's probably because I was so late at finding the cafeteria.
I'm not just going to introduce myself to other people just to sit with them and so they can watch me eat awkwardly.
Suddenly a person with dark wavy hair sitting alone waves me over towards there table catches my eye.
Why are they waving at me? What a weirdo.
I look back quickly to make sure it is me they are actually waving to. I cautiously make my way not having much of a chose.
I set my tray down in front of me and stare at the chips on my plate. I'm not even going to try to eat the cheese. I take a seat on the bench and use my napkin to wipe the cheese off then taking a small bite of the plain chip.
"So what's your name? What's your story?" I freeze and glance up.
"What?"
"I mean you must have a name. My names Katrina."
"It's Millie" I mumble. "And what story?" I ask cautiously.
"Ya know your life, why you switched schools, the good stuff." She's not implying what I think she is..right?
"Uh no story." I spit out.
"Everyone has a story-"
"I said no story ok. I just moved that's all."
"Hey I didn't mean to-"
"It's ok." I clam my eyes shut taking a quick deep breath and go back to eating my chips.
As I'm eating the chips, I look around the cafeteria just to witness a room full of hangry people. I looked down, ready to take another bite of the gooey slop when I get interrupted by a tap on my shoulder.
"So, you have your whole life planned out right?" I look up and of course, it's the same guy I keep running into that just won't leave me alone for some reason.
I look back down at my tray.
Why can't he just leave me alone or better yet why does he out of all people here have to pester me? I look back up at the figure.
