Chapter Seventeen

Morgan's POV

Hayley Duvall

I just wanted to say that
what you did today was very mean

I was in there for two hours

I thought we were frenemies

I know you're reading all this

But is fine

I'll wait until you don't hate me anymore again

Cause you're cool

I got no response from her but I know she read all the messages, I know I'm not close to her or anything but it bothers me that Hayley seemingly hates me again she's fun to hang out with and I could use not being locked up in my locker for more than a day.

"What are you doing?" Kaden asked as she opened the door of her house.

"Just scrolling through instagram," I responded simply. It wasn't a lie at all after Hayley ignored me through the dms I just moved on to like posts on my feed.

We entered her house and then heard her dad yell from the kitchen, "Kaden is that you?"

"Yes dad!" She responded as we walked towards the kitchen to greet him.

"Hi Derrick," I said.

"Hey Morgan," he said and walked to his daughter and kissed the top of her head, "Hey kiddo how was school?"

"It was okay just normally boring," she shrugged and opened the fridge.

"And you Morgan how did it go?" Derrick asked me now.

"Wasn't that interesting for me either."

He nodded, "That's good and before I forget we have a talk pending Miss."

I giggled nervously, "Really? I don't uh remember but I-I guess we-"

"Okay dad knock it off we are going up to my room," Kaden grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the kitchen.

"Be responsible girls- be responsible Kaden!" Derrick yelled as we walked up the stairs making me chuckle.

"Sure dad!" She responded.

Kaden shut the door of her room once we were inside and I launched myself on her bed and the silver haired did the same besides me. I turned to my side and so did she, we faced each other in silence.

"We need to talk," Kaden said softly.

"About what?

"You know what... the kiss."

"Oh that yeah."

"Look Morgan I don't want to get confused... I need you to be clear with me."

I sighed.

I knew this was coming sooner or later.

"Kaden I don't want to lie to you, you're my best friend and I don't want to hurt... I like Jessie," she started to move from the bed to get up but I didn't let her, I moved on top of her. "Let me finish please. I like Jessie but I think- no, I know I like you Kade, but I'm confused too."

"Confused about what?"

"About my feelings. I really like you Kaden more than a friend but I also like Jessie and I don't know what to do." I felt Kaden put her hand on my face and lift my face.

"I know you do, I know what I signed up for. Morgan I- I like you too and if you are up for it I'm willing to see where this - us goes for real this time, despite your feelings for her too."

"You want to date me after I just told you I have feelings for other girl as well? Are you sure?"

"I'm aware that it sounds stupid but I am sure. I want you Morgan the question would be if you want me." Kaden asked me.

I need to think this through. What wrong can come out of giving us a try?

Well for one I might realize that I don't like Kaden and I ruin our friendship.

Or we break up and we ruin our friendship.

The good outcome would be that we could actually work out and date for years.

A future with Kaden seems to outweigh everything.

I looked down at her beautiful face staring back at me, you could see the vulnerability in it right now. It wasn't very noticeable as Kaden has always been concerningly good at hiding her emotions but after knowing her for as long as I have you become good at picking out these moments. I moved a strand of her silver hair to the side and caressed her cheek with my thumb before leaning down and capturing her lips with mine in a gentle kiss.

Kaden's found themselves around my shoulders putting me down on top of her as our gentle kiss turned into a make up. I leaned away after I felt the need for oxygen.

"Those that answer your question?" I questioned as I pushed my glasses up my nose, I would take them off but I'm blind as a bat without them.

"Not exactly I would like for a verbal confirmation," she bit her lip.

I chuckled.

"Yes I would like to give us a try, for real this time. But Kade if we do this you need you to be aware of-"

She shut me up with a kiss, "I know Morgan but is worthy, you are worthy."

I'm not worth putting your feelings on the line like that.

I wanted to tell her that but I was selfish and I didn't. Even if I did knowing Kaden she wouldn't give it up.

"I promise that I'll never hurt you on purpose Kade. I'm an idiot so I won't promise you I won't hurt you that's impossible 'cause shit happens but I do promise that it will never be on purpose." I said meaning every single word.

"I know and I promise too Morgan."

"So those this mean we are girlfriends girlfriends now?" I asked.

Kaden rolled her eyes with a smile, "Yes Morgan."

"Oh cool, I was just curious."

"You're such a dumbass," she said playfully.

"It's part of the charm."

She hummed and kissed me again, but just then the door slammed open resulting on Kaden pushing me off and me falling off the bed.

"I KNEW IT!" Derrek said loudly as he pointed at me and then at Kaden, "Kaden I said be responsible!"

"Jesus dad we weren't-"

He raised a hand stopping her, "Nothing! No closed doors and at least thirty centimeters of distance between the two of you when sat on the bed." He then pointed at me and narrowed his eyes, "I'm watching you Morgan."

"Yes sir."

He still looked at me with narrow eyes as he left the bedroom.

Once he left I turned to Kaden, "Man I love your dad."

"He just threatened you."

I shrugged, "Nah that's just tough love."

Kaden laughed, "You're so weird."

"And you love it."
