Morgan's POV
Listen I'm not one to hate people, I don't like to dislike people but however as always in life there's some exceptions in my case it would be Chase Malcolm, Gale Bowers and now added to that list is Rowan King.
Hayley Duvall used to be at the top of that list but now we aren't as much as mortal enemies as before? You could say our relationship is complicated, something along the lines of frenemies.
Anyway I don't exactly hate Rowan for the same reasons I do the other two jerks. No, I hate her because for the few times ever since I've met her I have noticed her - not friendly at all - interest in Kaden.
What pisses me off the most is that she knows I know she likes Kaden and tries to flirt with her in front of me. But is funny because Kaden does not pay attention to any of her moves, I don't know if she's aware she's flirting or if she just simply knows and ignores her advances.
Like right now.
"So how long have you two been together?" Peyton asked.
Kaden looked at me before answering as if asking me and I just nodded once shortly at her. "For a while," was her answer.
To most we started 'dating' months ago but in truth we just started two weeks ago. Yes two weeks have passed already time seems to go flying without I notice.
After my studying session with Jessie that day I haven't help her again, I've been making all sorts of excuses to avoid being alone with her. Why? Cause I'm with Kaden and I can't give us a try if Jessie is constantly there as a reminder of my feelings for her.
It's not fair to Kaden even if she says she's fine with it. I know her she was my best friend first for years before she was my girlfriend. It does bother her but she won't say it.
"For a while? That's so vague." Rowan said.
"Row don't be nosy," Zack interjected stopping his own conversation with Jason who he seemed to get along really well once they met.
Zack and Jason were a pair I didn't imagine would get along so well but I'm glad they did. Jason seems to like all of Kaden's friends so far.
"I'm not being nosy you ass, I'm just curious about their... sudden relationship." Rowan responded while looking just at Kaden.
"It's not sudden. I've always liked Morgan," Kaden stated taking me by surprise.
She has always liked me?
"Oh we know! You would never shut up about how amazing she was and-" Peyton was cut off by Kaden while I was still in shock by the revelation.
"Okay that's enough information Peyton," Kaden said with her cheeks flushed by embarrassment makint me chuckle finally shrugging off my initial shock.
I leaned and kissed her cheek, "Don't, you're cute."
She rolled her eyes, "I'm not," she mumbled before hiding her face on my shoulder.
Peyton awed while from the corner of my eyes I could see Rowan roll her eyes.
"I didn't know you always liked me," I said quietly to Kaden.
But apparently not so quietly as Jason heard me and decided to give his unwanted comment.
"Because you're dumb and blind, those glasses really ain't doing shit."
I turned to him, "Fuck off Jaybitch."
I heard him gasp, "It's this how you treat your best friend!"
I flipped him off and he returned it back with a smile making the rest of our new friends laugh at our short banter.
The conversation then took a turn making me lose interest on what they were talking about which consisted of skate park gossip about people I don't know. I looked around trying to find something to entertain myself with when I spotted someone walking into the school.
I grabbed my bag and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Kaden asked confused dragging everyone's attention to me.
"I uh, I need to talk with my robotics club partner about something."
"Nerd," Rowan fake coughed making Peyton and Zack laugh but I just ignored her and focused on Kaden.
Goth junkie was my internal response.
"Oh sure, I'll see you at the end of school?" Kade asked me ignoring her friends as well.
"Yep." I leaned down and pecked her lips quickly getting a smile out of her a teasing sounds from the rest except from Rowan who looked pissed.
"Ladies, Rowan, Zack, Jaybitch." Was all I said before walking off in a hurry to inside the school hoping I would catch her alone still.
Once I entered I saw a glimpse of her turning around a corner so I followed but I lost her as I looked around the hallway and found them empty as everyone was either in class or out in the backyard. I peaked at some classrooms to se if I could find my person but she was nowhere to be seen. I headed up and opened the only classroom that seemed to be empty on this floor and that was the music room.
When I entered it the door closed behind me and against it was leaning a glaring Hayley with arms crossed over her chest.
"Why are you following me Valentine?"
"I-I wasn't following you."
"You think I'm dumb?"
I shrugged and she glared at me harder.
"What do you want Valentine?" She asked again.
I sighed.
"I just wanted to talk to you since I saw you without your minions dumb and dumber."
I saw the ghost of a smile on her face before she shook her head, "And why do you want to catch me alone?"
"Well there's less chances that I end up inside a locker if I do."
"Good point," she shrugged.
"I also wanted to know why you uh like... hate me... again."
"Who said I ever stopped."
"I know you don't anymore Hayley. So why?"
"None of your business."
I scoffed, "Of course is my business you hate me!" She sighed in frustration as I was not about to let it go unless she told me her reason. "So?"
"You want to know what my problem is?"
"Yes!"
She walked closer to me, "You think that you know everyone when you have not one clue."
I frowned.
"I don-" she cut me off.
"You think you know who Jessie is and you don't know shit, you don't know who she is and instead are obsessed with this fantasy of her that you have. You don't know her and never will, not like I do."
As she said every word until the something seemed to click on my head. Something that made things have so much more sense than they did before.
"You like Jessie."
The glare on Hayley's green eyes never ceased but I could see a glint of pain in them.
"You like Jessie, don't you?" I repeated.
"She's the only good thing I have in my life so back the fuck off." Hayley gritted out the threat closer to my face than before.
That was the last thing she said before storming out of the music room.
Just when I think this couldn't get messier.
Shit.
