Kaden's POV

"Not now dad," I said as I heard a knock on my bedroom's door.

"Not your dad," Jason said while he entered the bedroom and closed the door behind him.

I sighed and buried my head depper on the pillow, "Not now Jason."

The bed dipped besides me and then my best friend spoke. "I brought you lunch, your dad told me you haven't eaten since yesterday. Your mom confirmed it too when I entered."

"I'm not hungry," I said just for my stomach to growl afterwards.

"Sure you're not. Now come on sit and take the food, I bought you a chicken burger, fries and Sprite." He smiled as he put the bag of food in front of me — I relented and grabbed the burger.

"Thanks," I mumbled as I unwrapped it.

"You're welcome," he replied. I noticed Jason fiddling with his fingers and looking around the room— a thing he always does when he wants to say something but it's nervous or unsure about.

"Come on Jason spit out already." I said before taking a bite of the burger.

"I— I'm sorry Kaden."

I frowned confused on why would he be apologizing for. "Why?"

"It's my fault you're heartbroken, I knew from the beginning that you liked Morgan and I still came up with the stupid idea of you two fake dating and it backfired and hurt you. So I'm really sorry."

"It wasn't your fault Jason... I know you had good intentions even if it was an unconventional idea but I mean— it did work out in the end, is just that you know—Morgan is Morgan at the end of the day."

"But she hurt you — yeah she explained what happened to me but that doesn't mean I'm not angry at her even if she's my best friend too." He sighed and ran his hand through his short black hair. "She's gonna come to apologize at any moment today, you know."

"It was bound to happen at some point since I'm not answering any of her calls or texts." I ate my last fry.

"I should go, before she comes so you two can talk alone."

I nodded.

"Thanks Jase."

He stood up and leaned down to kiss the top of my head. "Love you Kade," he said and grabbed the empty can of sprite and the empty wrapping of the burger and fries. "I'll throw this out for you."

"Talk you later?" I asked as he walked to my door to go.

"Sure thing, bye Kade."

I gave him a small wave and he went out. I fell back into my bed and released a sigh.

I really don't want to confront Morgan right now.

The sound of my bedroom opening made me look up and to my surprise this time it was Candace. We might be on some kind of better terms now but I'm no where near feeling comfortable to call her mom and I know I won't be for a long time. She understands that though.

"Hey, can I come in?" She asked.

I nodded and she entered.

"What's up?" My dad has been busy with a construction since last week — leaving me alone with Candace most of the time so that has helped a bit for getting to know each other. I think.

"I just wanted to see if you're okay. I know your friend brought you lunch."

"Yeah I ate, don't worry I won't starve."
