Kaden's POV

"I'm telling you Morgan, that woman is unbelievable," I complained over the phone to my girlfriend.

"Why, what did she do?"

"She was in the kitchen making breakfast, like we were a family or some shit! She's not my family."

"And why was she at your house?" She questioned.

"Because my dad thought it would be good for me to get to know her so he's letting her stay." I sighed.

"Trust your dad Kade, try giving her a chance."

"Why should I when she didn't give one to me," I responded bitterly. I know she explained her reason for why she did it but that doesn't make my resentment towards her magically go away. I don't know if it'll ever go.

"You could be the bigger person Kade, it's not good to live with resentment."

"Maybe. I miss you when are you coming back?" I changed the subject not wanting to keep talking about my supposed 'mother' anymore.

"I miss you too babe, I should be back by tomorrow in the afternoon."

"How is Chicago and the college, do you like it?" I questioned while going through Instagram.

"It's fine, a bit windy and chilly but I like it, the college is great too it makes me excited for graduation." She said over the phone.

Graduation is something that scares me because I have no idea what I'll do once school is over with - which isn't so far with just merely two months of school left. I know dad can't afford to send me to college and I wouldn't him to sacrifice everything for me to and my grades aren't scholarship kind of, so I'm not sure of what I'll do. The one thing I do know is that the Morgan and Jason will leave town but I'm not sure what that means for Morgan and I.

"That's good," I mumbled.

"Yeah, Kade I have to go my dad wants to go out. Call you later?"

"Sure, I'm heading out too to the skate park anyway. Have fun, bye."

"You too, bye." Morgan hung up then and I groaned into my pillow. I didn't want to go to the skate park today but it was better than staying home and seeing Candace. I would hang out with Jason but he's out with Norah and her family - they seem to be pretty serious about each other, he told they want to spend all the time they could before college.

I stand from the bed and grab my skate and helmet before heading out of my room. My dad had to work today as he usually does even on a Saturday, I don't mind though it's work and at I know he enjoys it.

As I was about to walk out the door of my house I was stopped by the voice of my so called mother. "Kaden, you're going out?"

"Yeah, why?" I questioned in an almost monotone voice.

"I- I was just thinking that have some bonding time today, get to know each other... I baked cookies." She showed them to me and smiled nervously, however the offer wasn't appealing to me. I didn't want to know her.

"Not interested, I'm good. Please tell my dad I'm off to the skate park if he's back before I am." With that I left the house and made my way to the skate park.

I know I sounded like an asshole but I made it clear that I didn't want anything to do with her. I don't know why she keeps trying.

It didn't take me long to get to the park and for a Saturday afternoon it was pretty empty. Luckily for me I saw the twins in our usual spot along with Rowan.

"Hey guys," I said as I sat besides them on by the ramp.

"What's up." Cory replied while Roy seemed to be too busy fixing his skate.
