Morgan's POV

The idea of leaving Kaden was not my favorite if I'm being honest but I knew that I had to, it was a family problem and I couldn't be there.

After I left there wasn't much I had to do, Jason was out with Norah so we couldn't hang out. I walked around town for a while, I didn't feel like going home since my parents aren't there because they went to a dinner with my mom's coworkers so they won't be back until later.

I ended up going to the coffee shop where I usually go to.

The coffee shop was a bit crowded today but that was probably because of the time as it was when most people got out of work. It also seemed like it would start to rain at any moment now so I have two options, either I get my coffee and head home before it rains or I stay here in the shop with all these people. I wasn't very fond of the second option though as I don't like being alone in crowded places, I don't know why it just make me feel awkward and anxious.

Ultimately I decided on ordering my coffee and go home before the rain started. I walked to the bar to order but the queue was quite long which made me wonder if the coffee was worth the wait and I concluded that it was.

Coffee got me through my day most of the time.

The smell of fresh coffee and rain has got to be the most calming thing, at least to me.

My turn to order finally came, I got an iced coffee with milk, I was also thinking of buying some cookies or a muffin but I thought against it at last.

"Thanks," I told the barista as he handed me my drink.

I put the hood of my jacket up my head before heading out of the shop. As I passed through it I noticed that the town's square in front of the coffee shop was almost completely deserted as the sky turned darker and grayer.

Almost was, because there was someone sat alone on a familiar bench.

"You should head home, is getting dark and it's gonna rain." As I said that I looked up to the sky and felt a drop fall on my face.

"Leave me alone Valentine."

"We both know I won't, Duvall." I looked at her but she remained ignoring my gaze, "Want some?" I offered her coffee.

"Leave," she repeated.

"I'll take that as a no," I drank the last of it and put it to the side of the bench so I could toss it when I get up.

"I'm not in the mood to deal with you right now Valentine so just leave," Hayley said weaker this time.

"What's wrong?" I insisted.

"Can you just fuck off and leave me the hell alone!" Hayley snapped but when she did I could now see the other side of her face that was away from my sight and covered with her hair as well.

The side of her lip was busted and her cheek was purple and swollen.

Rage coursed through my body at the realization that someone had put a hand on Hayley. She didn't deserve that, no one did.

When she noticed my gaze lingering on the side of her face Hayley stood up abruptly to go but I followed and stopped her from doing so.

"Get out of my way," she said.

"Hayley is okay, I won't ask what happened or anything just... it's going to rain you shouldn't be out here." I pointed out as more drops fell from the sky.

"I rather stay here."

"I'm not going to leave you here alone, if you stay I stay." I said truthfully even though the rain was about to start pouring down hard on us at this point.
