Morgan's POV
Going back to school after the Christmas break is the worst part of the year if you ask me, even worst than coming back from summer break, maybe is because of the coziness of Christmas and it's cold weather that makes you don't want to get up from bed especially since that coldness didn't end in December but followed all through January as well.
So not falling asleep at school was more of a challenge than anything now.
Luckily it was lunch time and I could rest for a bit without getting in trouble.
"Are you okay?" I heard Kaden ask me.
I lifted my head up from the table and looked at her, "Yeah just sleepy."
"Your sleeping schedule is still a mess isn't it?" Kaden asked while caressing my head that was covered by my sweater's hood.
"You know me well Kade," I smiled at her.
Before any of us could say anything else Jason came up to our table and sat.
"Mrs. Blart is such a pain, first day back and she thought making us do a surprise test was a brilliant idea. I already know I failed that shit," he grumbled and bit his burger angrily.
"Damn Jace, she's that bad today?"
"Yes."
"Good thing we don't have her today then, right Morg?" Kaden nudged me playfully.
"For sure, I don't feel like having detention today." I looked at Jason, he has been avoiding since the day in the skate park - said he wouldn't talk to me until I 'stopped being an idiot' but I know he will talk to me because Kaden is here.
I stole a fry from his tray and he looked up annoyed, "Hey!"
"What? You always grab from mine too."
"Well I don't feel like sharing today."
Kaden looked at the both of us in confusion, "Are you guys okay?"
"Sure, why wouldn't we?" Jason responded simply with a shrug before biting his burger again.
Kaden glanced at me as if asking me the same question which I answered with a reassuring tight smile. Jason is being dramatic.
"Guys how about we hang at my house today?" Kaden said.
"Can't, I have swimming practice today," Jason responded before sipping his mountain dew.
"I-"
Before I could respond I was cut off by a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw no other than Jessie standing there looking at me with her pretty big brown eyes.
"J-Jessie hey."
I've seen her around a few times ever since she got back from her grandparent's but we haven't properly spoken just a few waves and smiles here and there mainly because I'm a pussy when it comes to speaking to her.
"Hey Morgan, Kaden, Jason," she greeted me and my friends and they did the same. I looked behind Jessie to her table and saw that Hayley was looking our way not so nicely.
"What's up?" I asked as coolly as I could.
"I was wondering if we could meet today after class you know for chemistry," Jessie said while gripping her backpack strap.
"It's only the first week of the semester is Mr. Hammond already sending homework?" Kaden asked before I could respond.
Jessie looked taken aback by Kaden question but just plastered a smile on her face. "Yeah you all know how he is doesn't like wasting any time especially after the holidays."
"Sure I'll help you," I side eyed my friends to see Kaden roll her eyes and Jason shake his head. What the hell is their problem, "But how about tomorrow? I have plans with Kaden today."
"Oh yeah tomorrow is cool too Morg, I'll go back to my table now, thanks again."
I smiled at her probably looking like an idiot while doing so, "See you."
"Bye guys," she said to Kade and Jason before walking away.
"She's so pretty," I mumbled dreamily as I watched her return to her table.
The class bell then rang breaking me from my daze.
"I have class see you girls later," Jason said before leaving.
I turned to Kaden and saw her already grabbing her bag, "Walk you to class?" I asked her.
"Don't worry Morgan I can walk alone," she stood up.
"You sure?"
"Yeah bye."
"Hey we are still up for after school right?" I yelled at her and stood up.
Kaden just gave me a thumbs up without turning around as a reply before exiting the cafeteria.
Something tells me she's pissed at me, but what else is new.
I walked out of the cafeteria and headed to my locker to grab my calc book, I knew I should've left it on my bag but I hate the extra weight more than I do walking to my locker, plus is a good thing Mr. Adams always gets to class later than most teachers meaning I will be just in time for his class.
I put in my combination, got my book out and closed back my locker. Then I felt someone behind me making me turn around.
"Hey Hayley... and Chase and Gale." I said confused, Hayley seemed to be pissed today and despite us becoming some kind of friends during the holidays I can't help but think that this won't end well.
"Nerd," she said blankly.
"Well... I kind of need to go to class now so can we like talk or whatever later?" I walked past Hayley just for Gale to stand in front of me and Chase to be now standing besides my locker.
Hayley looked at the jock and nodded.
"What's going now?" When I said that Chase opened my locker making me realize what was happening so I turned to Hayley. "No no no, come on Hayley I thought we were friends."
"Changed my mind."
Gale took my stuff and throw them on the floor before Chase grabbed me and pushed me inside the locker. "This is more cruel than it seems you know, I could die."
"Don't be dramatic the janitor will find you before the hour is over and the locker has air vents. You won't die," Gale explained.
"Hayley-"
"Have fun." She said emotionless before Chase shut close my locker.
I punched it from inside, "Come on Hayley open it up!"
I got no response.
"Hayley? Chase? Gale?"
No response.
"Mother fuckers."
Great I'm back at square one with Hayley. Really fucking great.
