Ten years later...Scranton, Pennsylvania

My eyes snapped open, something didn't feel right. I clumsily reached for my phone, knocking over loose items on my nightstand in the process. I groaned as the screen lit up, revealing it was 8:32 am. "Shit! I'm late!" I gasped, climbing out of bed and stumbling around to get ready.

I mentally scolded myself for being so irresponsible, it was my first week at a new job and already I was screwing up. I hastily threw my uniform on, getting equipped for the day in a rush. I didn't even have time for breakfast as I headed out to my car, driving to work like a maniac.

Entering the building, I held my head up, trying my best to walk unnoticed to my desk. "Miss Y/l/n, a word please!" I heard my boss call out loudly, eyes turning to me. I sighed quietly and found myself sitting opposite him in his office...Once again.

"This is the third time this week Y/n that you're late" he addressed, typing away at his computer. "I'm sorry sir, my alarm-"

"-Your alarm, I've heard that one before" his eyebrow raised. I gulped. Mr Porter rubbed his eyes, turning his attention solely to me. "Look, I understand starting a new job is scary but I can't keep letting you off the hook" he counselled. I nodded. "I'm sorry, I understand if you're going to fire me" I sunk my tensed shoulders in.

Mr Porter looked at me for a moment before breaking into a small smile. "I won't fire you, but next time the consequence won't be so nice" he warned. I sighed in relief. "Thank you, sir, I won't let you down!"

I shook his hand before gathering myself, heading out to my desk. The others muttered amongst themselves, occasionally peeping over at me. I felt so out of place but I needed this job more than anything. Ignoring them, I started on my sales.

The day dragged on moderately but it wasn't too terrible. As the clock ticked away, I could feel a migraine coming on. The minute it was break time, I pushed myself up and headed into the staff kitchen, grabbing a sandwich and making myself a coffee.

Like any series of unfortunate events, I had not even taken a whole bite when I bumped into someone. In a blur, the food fell to the floor, the cup of coffee spilling both over us. "Gracious! I'm so sorry I didn't see you there-" I grabbed some napkins, frantically dabbing at the stranger's suit.

I was interrupted when two strong hands gripped onto my wrists and stopped me. I looked up, at that moment feeling like I forgot how to breathe. The man standing before me looked like the type you'd find on a magazine cover, very attractive and charming.

He was wearing a light indigo blue suit, moon-shaped glasses sat on the bridge of his nose, the clear colour complimenting his deeply tanned skin. He had stubble, not too little, not too much. Messy black hair that flopped just over his forehead and those eyes...I could've sworn I had seen them before.

My gaze flickered up to be met with searing dark pupils.

"Careful, you better watch where you're going next time if you don't want an accident like this to happen again."

"Are you listening to me?" His voice rang in my ears, deep, yet quiet and husky. I jolted myself back to reality. "I'm so sorry, today hasn't been the best for me and...I guess now you too" I sighed. The man finally let my wrists drop, flashing a warm smile.

"Don't worry about it, you must be the new girl everyone is talking about" he eyed me up and down, this wasn't a very good first impression. I dared to meet his eyes again but this time they were gentle, more welcoming. "That's me, it's nice to meet you" we shook hands.

The others in the room were glancing and snickering but it felt like we were the only ones alive. "I'm sorry again it's just...You seem so familiar" I breathed out, trying to piece who this beautiful stranger was. The man chuckled. "Very interesting but I don't think we've met before."

I nodded my head. "You're right."

Respectfully, he helped to clean up the mess I made before it was time to get back to work. "Will you be okay?" He asked, the concerned tone was cute to me. I nodded. "Thank you" I smiled which he returned. For a moment, we stood just gazing as if there was some sort of connection between us until he broke away.

"Have a good day," he said before walking off to his desk which was a few down from mine. I had this weird urge to stop him, call out and say 'wait don't go...'

'Stop being a fucking weirdo Y/n' I mentally berated myself again before going back to my own desk. Every now and then I'd catch a glimpse of him...There was definitely something about him.

By the end of the day, I was exhausted and in desperate need of a long hot bath. Mustering my belongings, I wasted no time in heading down to the car park. As I was fumbling with my keys, a glint caught my attention from nearby.

My focus switched, eyes widening. It couldn't be...I couldn't believe it. A shiny waxed green Buick Skylark convertible was parked up just opposite my own car. I approached cautiously, it could've been anyone's car...Right?

"Is it really you, Bill?" I whispered to myself.

The sound of echoed footsteps advancing towards froze me in place. My eyes slowly wandered upwards to meet those sweet eyes from earlier. Who I once thought was a stranger quickly turned into a dream come true.

By the smile on his face, he knew it too.

"So we meet again, Y/n."
