"No"
"Yes..."
"No!"
"Yes! It happened Syd" I insisted.
She looked at me with an expression of shock. "You...You saw the actual murder?!" She cried out as I nodded. She jumped up from her bed and paced around the room as I watched her curiously. "I know it's a lot to take in..." I said slowly. "Hell yeah, that's crazy Y/n. Why didn't you say anything?" She replied.
"I was nervous, well I still am. I just didn't want to get in trouble for anything" I shrugged in admittance. Sydney looked at me sympathetically. "You did nothing wrong! I feel so bad for you and those innocent boys, what can we do?"
I shifted my gaze towards the phone that sat on her neat desk.
"Well, I need to tell Vinny and Lisa" I bit my lip anxiously.
"Let's do it," she said as she began dialling the number I gave her. I twiddled my fingers as the line rang for a moment and then Lisa's shrill voice answered.
"Mona Lisa speaking!"
"Hi, my name is Sydney and I'm Y/n's best friend. There's something I have to tell you-"
As they talked on the phone I zoned out, completely unaware of my surroundings. My mind was being taken back to Bill, the way he looked at me...The way he kissed my cheek. What if he kissed my lips? Would the sensation be any greater?
"-Okay thank you, have a good day," Sydney said before the line cut out.
"What happened??" I asked. "She's completely understanding about the situation and she hopes that you'll take the stand in court. It could really save them" Syd explained as she took a seat next to me. "I'll do it, when?"
"Next Friday"
I took a deep breath and she knew I was stressed so she wrapped her arm around my shoulders. "You'll be okay! I can come too for moral support" she beamed and I smiled. "Much appreciated bubz" I replied.
"Y/n! Your father's here" Syd's mother called from downstairs. I grabbed my bag and said my goodbyes to the Denver family before climbing into dad's minivan. "Hiya munchkin" he greeted with a warm smile.
"Hi pops" I replied as he began driving. I thought we'd be heading home but I noticed we were heading deep into town. "Where are we going?" I questioned. "To the tire shop, need to make sure the car is all set for our trip" he answered with a grin.
"Our trip?" He could hear my confusion.
"Mhm, I've booked us a cabin at Holt Lake" the proud look on his face made my heart melt. He was always trying to do nice things for me.
"That's great dad! But for how long...?" I wasn't going to tell him about the court date. I didn't want him to worry.
"Only four days, we'll be back by next Thursday" he explained as we pulled up to the tire shop. I sighed in relief quietly, things seemed to be working out in my favour and I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. It was great.
