"He'll get over it" Sydney comforted as she raked her fingers through my hair, my head leaned back into her lap.
"I don't know, he seemed pretty mad" I sighed. It had been a few days since I had last seen Bill, he was avoiding my calls to make matters worse. Syd had more experience with this kinda stuff so she grasped what to say.
"You know, you should visit him. Show up with something he likes...Maybe a comic?" She suggested thoughtfully. "I don't think he's interested in the flash" I gave a quiet giggle. "You're right...What about a letter?"
"Like a love letter?"
"Exactly!"
I thought for a moment. "Good idea!"
Grabbing a pen and paper, we sat together at her desk and put together a small message. "Read it to me," she said. I nodded.
"Dear Bill,
I know things have been tough for you since you arrived here but honestly, you have changed my life for the better. With every visit, I felt us becoming close and I found myself thinking about you constantly. From the way you hold my hand, to the way your smile lights up whenever you see me. I'm sorry for any pain or mistrust that I gave you, I hope that you can forgive me because I can't see a future without you.
All my love, Y/n xx"
She responded in approval. "If he doesn't fall in love with you after this, I'm suing."
I chuckled. "Well, wish me luck" I replied. Gathering my things, I said goodbye to her before I left, nervously heading towards the motel Bill was staying at. When I arrived at the front desk, I recognised the receptionist.
"Hey Charlie, I'm here to visit someone" I greeted. He smiled at me. "Sure Y/n, what's the name?" He replied calmly. "Bill Gambini" he typed away into a computer as I waited. "Room 303" I was informed. "Thanks, Char" I beamed before making my way up to 303.
It was the room at the end, my nerves eating me alive as I cautiously approached. Mind racing, fists clenched, heavy breathing. Pushing my feelings aside, I raised my hand and knocked firmly.
A moment later the door opened and I was met with the one and only, Bill Gambini. His eyes settled on the paper in my hands. "What're you doing here?" He asked, peering around to see I was alone.
"I wanted to give you this..." I answered, handing over the letter. Bill slowly took it, his eyebrow slightly raised. Before he opened it, he looked me dead in the eyes. "You know...I'm leaving tomorrow" his voice was hoarse.
"Oh..."
Then he read the letter. I was trying to piece together his emotions, I could've sworn he was holding back a small smile as I waited anxiously. Maybe in the movies, this would've been a fairytale but...This was real life.
"Thanks for stopping by" is all he said, placing the letter back into my hands and shutting the door, keeping us apart. I felt my lips tremble, my world crashing down. If only I had just admitted the truth...Maybe things would've been different. Just maybe...
I ran back to Sydney's house, not even looking back once. I pounded on the door, letting the tears fall down. A few minutes later she appeared with a smile that quickly disappeared. The tears fell onto the letter, ruining it.
I didn't even have to say a word. She knew.
