I watched as Bill dipped his feet into the water, a can of beer in his hand as he sat on the shoreline deck. We decided to get some alone time so pops suggested we drive up to Holt Lake which was the perfect idea. As I leaned my head against the doorframe, I couldn't help but smile to myself. Just when I thought I lost hope, everything fell into place again.
Bill turned around and caught me staring. "Sit with me" he gestured. I sauntered over and took a seat right in his lap, his arms wrapped around my waist as we gazed out at the lake. It was a nice day out, the birds swooped over the water and the trees rustled in the faint breeze. "Bill...Can I ask you something?"
"What's up" I felt his face nuzzling into my neck.
"Where did you go? I mean, after the wedding?"
"I went back to New York, stayed with Ma and even visited Stan for a while. I just couldn't stay in Pennsylvania anymore" he replied. I nodded slowly, it made sense that he went home to his family. "Blair kept calling me but I never answered her calls. I wish her the best but we're done, I know where my heart is."
I moved my head, looking at him. "Oh yeah? Where?"
"With you" he smiled before catching my lips. We kissed for a moment until I pulled away with burning questions still to ask. "Well, what are we going to do now? Move back to Scranton or maybe somewhere new?"
He thought for a moment and then shook his head. "No no, we stay here. I'm sure pops wouldn't mind us staying with him until we find our own house" he smiled. My heart fluttered. Being able to live near my family PLUS having Bill? That's a win if you ask me. I snuggled closely into his warm embrace, still kinda in shock that we reunited. "Baby?" He kissed my cheek. "Hm?" I replied thoughtfully.
"I want to apologise. You were right all along but I was too blind to see it. I never realised how much I truly loved you until this happened" he said very sincerely. Running my hands through his hair, I moved my face close enough that our lips brushed together slightly. "That's in the past now baby. You're all mine and I'm not letting you go ever again."
Bill chuckled but I wasn't joking.
"Oh, you're serious?" His eyebrow raised and I nodded.
After a moment he broke into a smile and kissed me hard, his hands gripping on my waist. It seemed to be happening all so fast but I wasn't complaining, as long as I had him there with me nothing else mattered. Bill eventually pulled away first and fumbled with something in his pocket. "Y/n...This probably isn't how you expected this to go but-"
I was suddenly scooped up and propped onto my feet. I watched curiously as Bill changed his stance and got on one knee, pulling out a small box to reveal a ring inside. "-I love you. You've changed my life since the day we met and there's nobody else I want to spend my days with except you. I promise to love and cherish you forever, to always be by your side. So...Will you marry me?"
Jaw dropped open, heart racing. Only a fool would say no.
I squealed out a "YES!" and I was spun around in his arms, lips meeting. He slipped the beautiful ring on my finger and I swooned hard. To think all that time ago Blair would've been in my place but fate had other plans. "Wait until we tell pops about this!" I grinned. Bill chuckled, his arms coiled around me close. "I can't wait."
