"You're in a hurry, where are you off to?" Dad asked as I grabbed my stuff.
"Jail- I mean to see Sydney" I laughed nervously to save myself. He raised his eyebrow at me. "I heard that. I don't want you anywhere near that place" his tone was hard. "I know pops I'm just kidding, I wanted to see your reaction" I plastered a grin to hide my venations.
He didn't seem too convinced for a second but then he let a chuckle out. "Okay okay, tell Sydney I said hello," he said, folding up his newspaper. "I will, see you later" I kissed his cheek before heading out the door.
The main roads were flocked with townspeople so I walked down the side streets, keeping out of sight. There was always the chance someone could snitch to my dad so I made sure to be careful whilst making my way there. When I arrived, I did the usual check-in process before finally being shown to the room.
Bill took longer than usual to be brought out but I didn't mind, I was just excited to see him. After a while, the door swings open and those dreamy brown eyes gazed into mine. "Hey Y/n" he greeted with a kiss to my cheek. "Hi Bill- oh"
His lip looked busted, kinda swollen and a little bloody.
"What happened to you?"
"One of the inmates tried to you know...Get a little frisky and he punched me in the courtyard when I obviously said no" He sighed as my eyebrows plunged into a frown.
I gently rested my hand on his feeling sympathetic.
"I'm sorry, we're trying everything we can to get you out" I reassured him and he flashed me a positive smile.
"I know. But Vinny my god he's been getting into trouble with the judge. Stan wants to go with the public defender" He explained.
"Poor Vinny, he's really trying. Can't you convince Stan to give him another chance?" I replied.
"I can try but Stan is kinda stubborn," he said and I nodded. Then, he looked at me for a moment deeply, his eyes scanning my face. "Enough about me, how have you been?" He asked curiously. "I've been okay...Just a little conflicted I guess" I admitted to him.
He seemed a little lost. "With what?"
"Hm, nothing really. Just myself I guess" I shrugged it off, not wanting to go into detail. "A pretty girl like you shouldn't be worrying about herself" he replied and I thought my heart almost exploded. "You think I'm pretty?" I blushed. "No, I know you are" I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
Bill lifted my chin with his finger so we were eye level. "You know, ever since I've been stuck in here I really can't wait for your visits. They're the highlight of my day" he said in his soft-spoken tone.
"I'm thrilled, it's just a shame we're under these circumstances" I said and he gave a low chuckle. "I know I know it's not ideal. But, you're the best thing to come out of it" his smile mirrored mine.
I went to reply when the door flew open and an officer appeared. "Times up Gambini, move it," they said bluntly. "I'll be waiting for you" Bill winked at me as he stood up, I watched as he was placed into handcuffs and taken away once again.
I could still feel his kiss from earlier lingering on my cheek. By that point, I was genuinely starting to feel bad for not speaking up. Looking at the clock, I decided I was going to give Vinny and Lisa a call when I got home.
