"Welcome to my humble abode"
Bill stepped aside, embracing me into his house. It was large, tidy and very well furnished. My small one-bedroom apartment had no comparison as I hid my personal embarrassment behind a smile.
"You have a beautiful home Bill"
"Thanks Y/n"
He led me into the kitchen, gesturing I take a seat at the countertop. Even the wooden stool looked expensive as I sat down. He brewed two cups of coffee before joining opposite me, sliding my cup across.
"Wow...I can't believe it's been ten years!" He chatted, his gaze never once left mine. "Bill I-" I took a deep breath "I'm sorry. Ever since you left Alabama I couldn't stop thinking about how badly I screwed up and I-."
His hand on mine interrupted me.
"Y/n...I'm the one who's sorry. I should've never treated you like that. I was just so overwhelmed with the court and everything and I was being selfish. You're perfect" he said to me. My heart fluttered.
I smiled, giving his warm hand a squeeze.
The stare...The connection...It was everything to me.
"So, tell me! How've you been? What've you been up to?" He continued, taking a sip of coffee. I thought for a moment. "I've been okay I suppose. Once I left school I worked with my dad for a while in the garage until I was offered this job, I just recently moved out here to Scranton" I replied.
He nodded, a smile never left his lips.
"What about you?" I asked curiously.
"Well after we won the case I headed off to UCLA with Stan. Studied law for a few years, almost became a lawyer but then things changed and I moved to Scranton two years ago. Been here since and everything is going well."
I took a sip of my drink. "How is Stan?"
Bill chuckled. "He's okay I guess, he hasn't taken his most recent breakup too well so he's living in his mom's basement. We still talk occasionally if he's not busy gaming...Or drinking."
"Oh really?"
"Mhm poor guy. He hasn't had the best of luck with dating" he gossiped. I gave a small giggle. "I relate to that" Bill looked at me in surprise. "Spill, are you seeing anybody?" He sounded almost eager.
I shook my head. "Well...I was seeing somebody but he wasn't the one for me. It was toxic and well even pops didn't want us together. After that, I've been on a few dates but no more than that" I explained, hoping that I didn't sound too much like a loser.
"I must say I'm surprised, I thought a beautiful girl like you would be taken," he said and I felt myself glowing red. "T-thank you" I clumsily took another sip. Even just a stare from him made me nervous.
"What about you?" I asked.
Before he could reply, the phone rang. He signalled that he'd be back before disappearing into the hall to answer his phone. I tapped my nails rhythmically against the surface, heart racing. He was definitely flirting, he still wanted me, right?
'You've got this Y/n, let him make the first move' I was almost excited thinking about it. His soft lips were so inviting...
After a moment, he returned and I couldn't help but smile brightly. "Where were we?" He said thoughtfully to himself. "Ah yes, so I-" keys rattling in the door hindered Bill as he fell silent. I listened to the sound of high heels that approached us.
A slender woman appeared, she was stunning! I mean perky boobs, small waist. Pretty face. Damn, I wished I could've looked like her. Her long flowing locks rested just past her shoulders. "I'm home" she announced, even her voice sounded rich.
Bill looked at me and I was already expecting the worst, my smile faded.
"Y/n, I'd like you to meet my fiance..."
