When we broke the news to pops, he seemed to be even more excited than us. "WOOO" he ran around the house cheering whilst Bill and I laughed, his hands around my waist. "Congratulations!" Fran gave us each a big hug, she and the kids were excited too.
"I'm really happy" I smiled, it was nothing but the truth. "Do you have any idea for when you're planning to get married?" She chatted curiously. "Maybe in the next couple of months?" Bill replied.
"Leave it to me, oh and I'm so stoked to take us dress shopping!" Fran answered. I felt like a little girl becoming a princess. Pops came over and wrapped his arm around Bill's shoulder. "You break my daughter's heart again and I'll kill you," he said and I hoped he was joking. After a minutes glare pops broke into laugher and Bill chuckled nervously.
"I only just got him back, no scaring my soon to be husband" I joked along, pulling Bill into my arms. He placed a kiss on my forehead and I felt right at home, where I'm meant to be. As a family, we spent the next few weeks preparing for the wedding. Word spread around town like wildfire and everyone gossiped about us. A guy accused of murder about to marry the girl who saved his life? It couldn't get any better than that.
Fran took me dress shopping as promised whilst pops helped Bill with the suits. The local cake store accepted to design our wedding cake and Fran dealt with many other wedding duties. "Bill suggested the courthouse for a venue but I'm thinking of something more...Tropical," I say to Fran as we walk down the street. She thought for a moment before turning to me. "My girlfriends and I went to a lovely botanical garden not long ago, I can take you there" she offered and I nodded.
The drive was about half an hour and I wasn't disappointed. It was a tall glass building, it kinda reminded me of the one back in Pennsylvania. "This is lovely" I commented as we explored around, the flowers and waterfalls catching my attention. I noticed Fran speaking with a worker and everything was going just fine. I could see myself marrying Bill here, it was all that I ever dreamed.
"We don't have many weddings here but I'm sure my manager will be more than happy to host," the lady said to us. We discussed the details and the end cost was pretty pricey but I wasn't willing to let it go so I called pops. "Hey, dad...I have a question to ask."
"Yes hun?"
"Are you willing to pay a grand for the venue?"
Pops made a noise and I wouldn't be surprised if he was having a heart attack. "1,000 dollars? Good lord" he choked a little. "I knowww but it's really beautiful. Pleaseee?" I begged even though it didn't take much. "Okay okay, anything for my little girl" he gave in. "You're the best!" I squealed. With everything taken care of, there was only one thing left to do...
Marry the love of my life.
