Chapter 43 - Dinner

-- your POV --

You're ready and went out of your room. When you opened the door you saw Peter standing in front of it, probably not just since this moment, but for longer than that.

(Your dress)

-Peter: "You look amazing."
-Y/n: "Thank you. You look also great, but is this the suit of the school dance?", you look down at him and see some wrinkles in his suit.
-Peter: "I don't have anything else.", you have to restrain a laugh.
-Y/n: "And clearly May doesn't know how to iron."
-Peter: "She did her best."
-Y/n: "Wait, let me help you.", his suit started to steam and all the wrinkles disappeared.
-Peter: "Thank you, what would I do without you?"

He gave you a kiss on the lips and you two went to Tony and Pepper who were already waiting for you two. You could clearly see that Tony was tense, but it didn't amuse you, because you were tense too.

-Tony: "Shall we?"

I smiled at him and he lead us outside to his car. Happy was holding the doors open for you and winked at you, probably because he was also proud of your decision.

No one talked when you drove to the restaurant and it was kinda awkward, but you were kinda happy about it too. Don't mess it up. You tell yourself.

Finally you arrived at the restaurant. Happy was holding the doors open once again and y'all got out of the car. The restaurant was awesome and it looked really expensive in here, but that was just Tony's style.

The waiter brought you to your table and took your jacket. After that he gave y'all a menu card and disappeared again to serve for other people.

Everyone was hiding behind their menu card and no one said a word. Now it got really awkward. After a few minutes everyone chose a meal and put the card down, but the waiter didn't come. You were all staring in other directions to prevent eye contact.

-Tony: "Why is this waiter taking so long?", he said annoyed and it gave you the feeling that he didn't even want to be here right now.
-Y/n: "Relax Tony. He's just doing his job."
-Pepper: "Y/n is right. Just give him some minutes."
-Y/n: "Thank you."

Tony rolled his eyes and you know that Peter wished to not be here right now, but he can distract himself because he has never seen such a place from the inside before. You can tell that by his eyes.

-Tony: "Is it not possible to be served in this restaurant!?", he shouted through the restaurant.
-Y/n: "You're not serious, are you?"

You stood up and left the table. You went into the bathroom. That's not how I imagined this evening.

-- Peter's POV --

She left Pepper, Mr. Stark and me alone at this table. I can't stand this silence and that Mr. Stark isn't doing anything that his relationship with his daughter works and she's at least trying.

-Peter: "I'm sorry Mr. Stark, but that's not how she wanted this evening to be and you're not really trying, Sir."
-Tony: "Well, then tell me how she imagined this evening.", he said angry.
-Pepper: "Tony, don't be this stubborn.", Mr. Stark rolled his eyes again.
-Peter: "She wanted to get to know you more."
-Tony: "She could've said that or at least anything and I try to get to know her too, don't you see?", he lifted his arms.
-Peter: "This is not what she needs or wants. She wanted to have a funny evening and not a boring one in a restaurant like this."

-- your POV --

You refresh your make up, which means you put mascara on your lashes, because you "cleaned" your face before. Then you saw Pepper walking in the bathroom.

-Pepper: "Hey, are you okay?"
-Y/n: "It's alright. I should've known it that this isn't going to work."
-Pepper: "Are you coming? We want to drive home."
-Y/n: "Yeah, I'll just quickly get that done and then I'll come."

Pepper leaves the bathroom and you did as you said. When you walked outside Happy was holding the door open for you, just as usually. You sat inside it and didn't say a word or look at Tony.

-Tony: "Listen Y/n, I'm new to this father-being okay? I have to figure out how to do that and I'm sorry for what just happened and for everything I did to you.", you can't believe what he just said and smirked a bit when he was done.
-Y/n: "It's okay and I don't want you to be my father, but to be a friend at least.", he smiled at you.
-Tony: "Good. I expect that everyone is still hungry?"
-Pepper: "We'll eat at home, don't worry."
-Tony: "I'm sorry to destroy your plans, but we'll eat shawarma tonight."

In that moment Happy stopped the car. He really has a talent for timing. Y'all wait until Happy opens the doors again and got out of it.

You go inside the small restaurant and take a seat. You had a smile on your face the whole time, because you didn't think that this would ever happen.

-Y/n: "How do you know this restaurant?"
-Tony: "Me and the Avengers ate here after we defended Loki."
-Y/n: "Oh.."
-Waiter: "Hello Mr. Stark nice to see you again.", you were happy that the waiter came, because like that no one saw your kinda sad expression.

Y'all ordered what you wanted and had a great evening. You had a lot of fun, everyone did, and you think you just got a huge part closer to Tony.

After about 2 hours you drove back to the headquarter, because you and Peter had school tomorrow. You gave Pepper a hug and go to Tony.

-Y/n: "Thank you for tonight, it really means a lot to me."

You hug him and you could feel that he wasn't prepared for that, because he hesitated but after a while he hugged you back. Everyone said good night and you and Peter go into your room.
