Chapter 28 - The long waiting

— Loki's POV —

This little kid really made me stay here and I don't know how, also I don't know why he is so nice to me. I know he has feelings for y/n, but he also knows what happened between me and her. I guess I'll never understand them. Tony and Pepper already went to bed just me and Peter were still waiting. I hate this. Hours pass by and still no one comes out of this damn room. As I looked to Peter, I saw that he fell asleep already. I don't feel tired at all, but that's maybe because of the adrenaline or maybe because I want to be sure that she's alright.

It's already 5 AM and finally this doctor came out of the room, I jumped off the couch as soon as I saw him.

-Strange: "She made it.", he whispered, because of Peter.
-Loki: "Thank you. Can I go to her?"

The assistants pushed her on that bed into another room behind the doctor and I could see her face, but not really clearly. I just saw a lot of tubes coming out of her mouth to help her breathing. The doctor nodded as he saw my expression on my face whe I saw her.

-Strange: "But don't stay too long, you also need to sleep."

I didn't really listen to him, but followed the assistants. After they made sure all of the devices are running and everything was connected, they left us alone. I sat next to her bed and held her hand.

-Loki: "I can't believe you made it. Honestly I didn't think that you would survive at all."

I laughed a bit and then I saw the bandage around her neck. She's going to hate it. That was the first thought. She's gonna be furious when she sees that. Kinda sexy. No Loki, you have to stay away from her, because you led her in this situation.

After another hour of just staring at her and holding her hand, I sat on the couch that was also in this room until I fell asleep.

— 3rd person view —

Loki was sleeping on the couch and Peter was sitting on the chair next to y/n's bed. He got to her as soon as he woke up. Peter also saw the bandage around her neck. What if there were no fragments and dr. Strange opened it up and it was completely unnecessary. She will be so angry. Is what he thought about that. It's already 7 AM and slowly everyone woke up and came to look for her and Peter told everyone to be silent, because of Loki.

-Natasha: "Why do you protect Loki like that?", she asked silently.
-Peter: "I'm not protecting him, but y/n likes him and she told me about the time on Jotunheim. She would be disappointed if Loki wouldn't be there when she wakes up."
-Natasha: "So you also think that they are a couple?"
-Peter: "No, but they are friends and there was something between them, something that is not cleared up."

Suddenly y/n started coughing and Loki immediately woke up. One of the assistants came into the room and took the tube that was in her throat out and y/n started to breath by herself again. After that Stephen Strange came inside the room to check up on her, but she didn't wake up. That's why he put an oxygen mask around her face, in case she stops breathing again.

-Tony: "When is she going to wake up?"
-Strange: "I don't know. It could be just some hours or some days. But it's a really good progress that she breathes by her own now."
-Thor: "This is frustrating. I almost haven't slept the whole night, because I was so worried about her."
-Strange: "You all can go back to sleep. It probably won't happen that she wakes up in the next 2 hours and if she does, I'll get you."

After some time they all got out of the room, except for Peter and Loki again.

-Strange: "You both should go to sleep too."
-Peter: "No, I want to stay by her side."

He looked to Loki but he didn't say anything and also got out to get some rest after that very long surgery.

-Peter: "Mr. Loki can I ask you something."
-Loki: "Depends on the question."
-Peter: "Do you love her?"
-Loki: "I don't love anyone."
-Peter: "Then why did you two kiss, if you don't love her?"

Loki didn't say anything, but he started to think about that question. Do I love her? Why did we kiss? Does she have feelings for me? No that's impossible, I'm a monster. Peter kinda knew what he just did. He forced them to talk about their feelings, so that he knows if he would have a chance by her or not. Hours passed again and sometimes Stephen Strange came inside to check on her. Nothing has changed, she still is in a coma.
