"Someday, im going to marry you"

Growing up you saw marriage as something you would never do. Why get married when it will always end in divorce. Well at least thats what you thought, you can thank your parents for that perspective. A nasty divorce during developmental years will get you to negative perception of marriage real quick.
This is what made you hesitant to be with Cedric. He was a hopeless romantic. Everyone in Hogwarts knew it. He loved the idea of love. He loved the idea of romance. He loved the idea of marriage and kids. He loved the idea of forever. You, however, loved the idea of making it through the day and worry about the next one when it came.
Even with all your hesitations, Cedric wooed you. It wasn't the weekly picnics, although those may be your favorite part of your relationships. It was the kisses, which is actually your favorite part of dating him. It was his listening. Cedric is good with words, always knows what to say. Listening, however, he had to work on. Dating you forced him to do that, and he has never been so thankful.
It's not that he didn't know about your opinion on marriage, he just assumed you had that perspective because you were young. So when he said the words, " someday, I'm going to marry you" he was expecting you not to love the idea but wasn't you expecting to get up and say you don't feel well and walk away. As you walked away his mind went a million miles per hour. "Was he really that horrible of a boyfriend that you cant even have the conversation about marriage"
He felt what was best was to give you some space to process, what he assumed was a normal progression of your relationship, but to you was your nightmare coming true. He went about the rest of the day waiting for you to turn up in the classes you shared. Waiting for you to sit by him and kiss him on the cheek like you always did. Waiting to see your smile that still makes his knees weak. You were no where to be found so instead of seeing you he was seeing the empty spot next to him.
When you didn't show up for dinner, he decided that he was done giving you space. Walking up to your dorm he suddenly lost all the courage he had built up on the walk over. He gently knocked on the door and opened it slowly. Only to finding you laying on your bed in his sweatshirt staring at the ceiling.
" Hi you" he says causing you to glance in his direction and then look back up at the ceiling.
"I didn't see you in class or at dinner so I got nervous and came to check on you. I can leave if you want though, now that I know you're safe" he said when you didn't keep eye contact with him
"You can stay" you whispered not moving or looking at him.
He smiled and took his shoes off and climbed into bed next to you. Resting his head on your chest he tried to match his breathing with yours. You two sat like that for about ten minutes when you finally broke the silence.
"I love you, you know that right" you say.
"Of course I know that silly, do you know that I'm madly in love with you" Cedric Replied.
You gently nod your head yes afraid of opening your mouth again because you know you will cry. Instead you sigh gently and close your eyes trying to control your emotions.
Another moment of silence passes over the two of you, lasting about ten minutes. You can almost hear Cedrics mind racing. Although you are sure he can hear your heart rate speed up and slow down.
"Why- why do you hate marriage so much" Cedric, said barley above a whisper.
You sigh heavily. You know he deserves an explanation but are you really ready for the whole " my parents ruined love for me" conversation that you know will end in pity. You thought about it for about a minute. Then decided that Cedric probably wouldn't let it go until you tell him.
"My parents, I guess" you replied.
Before you could continue you could feel Cedric tense up. Probably not expecting an actual answer from you. You wait until you feel his shoulders relax to continue.
" It's not that I hate marriage it's just what i've always been taught. Never get married, you'll be unhappy for the rest of your life. Marriage is forever, it's so permanent. It's scary. So I guess I just naturally hate marriage cause its all I was taught to do" you say, instantly regretting sharing that with him. He is going to think you are so weird or worse, give you pity.
After a painfully long amount of silence, that was most likely only 30 seconds. Cedric lifted his head up so he was looking at you. You didn't dare make eye contact. Keeping your eyes strictly on the ceiling above you.
"That makes sense I guess. How about instead of talking about marriage, we talk about tomorrow. Instead of me saying i'm going to marry you someday, i'll say i'm going to love more tomorrow." Cedric finally spoke.
You had no idea how to respond to that. It's exactly what you want. You didn't even know that what you wanted but after he said that, he was what you wanted.
"I- I like that." You reply quietly. Finally finding the courage to look at him you see his beautiful brown eyes. Ugh, those eyes.
"Well then, I'll love you more tomorrow" say Cedric before laying back down on you and closing his eyes. You begin to play with hair until you hear faint snores. Of course he would fall asleep.
"Ill love more tomorrow too" you whispered even though you know he wont hear you.
Except he did.
