"I'm scared" you hear a squeaky high from behind the closed bedroom door. It was Draco's turn to put your 3 year old to bed and you were out in the kitchen cleaning up from the ice cream you three just ate.

You smile to yourself hearing how your sweet husband helps your little boy work through his fears.

" Hold my hand" you hear Draco say, a few moments later adding a " please". You assume your little boy listened to because you heard Draco encourage him by saying "good job"

You decided to be nosey and press your ear against the door and eavesdrop just for a little bit. Nothing too crazy.

"Ok now listen my favorite boy, I will always protect you. Even if I can't always hold your hand, ill always be there for you. I have you. " Draco speaks to the scared boy. Draco continued as the little child look up to him with big eyes, clinging to every word he says, " When I was little my mom would help me when I was afraid. She and I would say " Its ok to be afraid. Even though im afraid I will be brave and courageous."

You are now near tears listening to Draco be vulnerable with your little boy, helping him in any way he possibly can. When you first fell pregnant, Draco was so excited to start a future with you but was terrified to end up like his father. He had made so many strides in his relationships in his life.

After Draco started going to therapy you noticed slow changes that turned into big changes that turned relationships into 180s. Yours and his relationship grew closer and stronger as you say vulnerability and trust come out of him. His relationship with his parents became so much healthier with stronger boundaries that were expected to be followed. Lastly, his relationship with himself. He is in the process of working on forgiving himself, and choosing to put the same energy he puts into others, into himself.

"Ok try it with me little guy. It's ok to be afraid. Even if I'm afraid I can be brave". Draco said slowly as a quiet voice followed after him. " good job, buddy. I am so proud of you know, you know? Mommy and I are so proud of you and love you so deeply. Open your arms as wide as you can and mommy and I love you EVEN more than that." You hear a small child's giggle at the last comment.

You sat there for a few moments, it had gotten quiet. You walked away to finish the dishes, moments passed and you realized that Draco still hadn't come out of your son's room.

Tiptoeing back to the room, gently opening the door, cringing at the creaking sound it made. You peaked through the small crack you made in the doorway. Your heart melted at what you saw before you.

There were the two reasons your heart beats, in each other's arms, sleeping soundly.
