The aching sound of the alarm blasts throughout the room causing him to stir. He turns reaching over and quickly shutting it off before it starts to wake the rest of the house. It's ten in the morning as he lays back on his pillow staring at his ceiling drowsily."Another day, another week."
JJ spent all last week training with days off here and there. He's working part time because that's the only position they had. Luckily the pay makes up for it. Once his mind and body are on the same page he removes the blanket and sits up while tossing his legs over onto the floor. A sleepy and empty yawn escapes his lips as he rakes his fingers through his hair.
Putting his hands on the edge of his bed he pushes himself off of it and makes his way over to the door. It's peacefully quietly down the hall only hearing the ticking of the clock on the wall. He tip toes lightly over to the bathroom carefully not to wake them. He shuts the door and does his business.
Once he's done he washes his hands and flaps them dry like small chickens trying to fly. There are napkins on the side but he just prefers this method better as if he's a twelve year old boy. With the mentality of one it wouldn't make much of difference anyway.
He leaves out passing their room and enters the living room. The sun poured through the blinds creating stripes of shadows and rays of light on the furniture. He makes his way over to the kitchen grabbing a small blue bowl from the dish rack. He opens the drawer getting a spoon before closing it and going over to the fridge. Grabbing both the cereal and milk he heads back to the counter.
JJ hates mornings. To him their tiresome especially when he has a hangover or pulled an all nighter. However they're normally Mary's favorite time of the day. She's asleep at the moment but She loves the sunrise and the fresh air the minute you step outside. She loves being engulfed in the warmth of the sun. It makes her feel safe. Like the moon does with the stars or the sun with the clouds. She loves beginnings and it just fills her soul with new possibilities.
As she loves to tell it.
While he's eating he glances at the dining table. Catching his attention is an envelope covered over a couple news papers. It has red writing he can't seem to make out. Setting his bowl down he walks over moving the papers and picks it up. To his disappointment are big red letters saying "over due." on the front of it. He knits his brows together as he sees two more envelopes with the same writing.
"Damnit"

Their small chatter grows once they've reached the front door. Keys dangle against it as she opens it up. Kiara holds two white shopping bags in her hands. Her and Sarah went down to the main land today so she could get her parents something just cause. They spent the remaining of their time eating ice cream and walking around gossiping about nothing in particular.
As they step inside they're greeted by Mike coming down the stairs with a bag in his hands.
"Hey dad." She said, as Sarah closed the door behind them.
"Hey"
She furrows her brows slightly while she glanced down, "Y'all going somewhere?"
"Yeah, actually your mother was supposed to tell you yesterday."
"Tell me what?"
"We have to leave again." Anna responded, coming down the stairs as well.
"What why, y'all just got here?"
"I'm sorry hun, but work called."
She scuffed, "Wish they called someone else." Mumbled Kiara.
Putting his hand on her shoulder he said, "Hey listen, when we get back we can do anything you want, okay?"
She sighs looking away. As much as she wants to say yes she knows that they're never going to do it. They feed her what she wants to hear but never does what she wants to see.
Kiara doesn't say anything. Nothing she ever says changes anything anyway. Instead she gives him and her mother their bags before leaving out the door slamming on the way out causing Sarah to flinch slightly.
They glanced at one another furrowing their brows perplexed on what just happened.
"Did I say something wrong?" Mike asked, genuinely oblivious.
She scuffed, "I don't know, ask your daughter."
Sarah then leaves out as well following the brunette.

JJ's hanging up a new order of wetsuits that they received this morning. He doesn't know what to think right now. Or how to stop thinking it. His mind is consumed with what he saw this morning. How could they not tell him? How could they keep something so huge from him? Yeah, maybe it doesn't have anything to do with him, but he lives there too. Yes, maybe Mary didn't want him to worry, but it's far too late for all of that.
But everything will be fine.
Optimism is key.
Hopefully...
To his disruption is the small bell above the door. He looks up seeing Kiara. She has a mixture of sadness and irritation while she pulls out her card. His eyes follow her as she walks past him and up to the desk handing it to Myra. Without saying anything, she grabs it back, goes over to her board and quickly leaves out the back patio. The two look from the door and at each other. She gives him a look asking if he knows. JJ just shrugs not knowing anything at all.
On a normal day Kiara would make a snarky comment complaining about his lack of functionality and he'll make fun of her for coming back anyway. Today is different though.
But he has bigger problems to worry about so he doesn't care.
However that is another problem because he does.
