JJ sat at the kitchen table fiddling with a random decorative item. Kiara insisted he went to her house to relax or wait till the morning before going to the
hospital. Him being out that late under that much stress is a risk she's just not willing to take. She comes out of the kitchen with two mugs. One is Tiana and the other is Simba. Disney has always been her favorite. They're filled with chamomile tea. She sat them down on the table while she took a seat herself. JJ glanced at the cup taking a whiff of the familiar scent. The corner of his lips turned up slightly looking at her.
"You like chamomile tea too?" He gestured to the cup.
"Yeah, it's the only one that keeps me feeling like a classy bitch." she replied, taking her own.
He chuckled, "My mom, she makes it all the time."
"Does she now?"
"Mhm, not as much anymore but every now and again, y'know." He mumbled, staring at the cup.
Kiara could see the sadness in his eyes. She shifted her chair towards him slightly, crossing her legs.
"Tell me something about her. Anything"
JJ's mind roamed through all the places and moments they've had. All the joy and laughter they've accumulated. He settled on a specific few.
"Well, she loves nature. The trees, the hills, the mountains, everything. When her and my dad got together, they went traveling and camping out in these cool ass forests. They stayed in one of those hippie vans you see in a seventies movie or something. She's even the one who taught my dad how to fish." he laughed.
"She loves and I mean loves cats. We had one a couple years ago named Dopey because he would somehow find his way in the catnip. Which she stopped buying because of that." "And there was this one time, right, where we went to Vancouver for the holidays and she bought him a whole mini snowboard just for him. It was so funny because I was the one that ended up using it."
She smiled, letting out a soft chuckle.
"It was a fun time. And overall she is just really nice and funny. She tries to find the good in people. Most people anyway. She vaguely can tell when something is genuine or has an ulterior motive. It's scary but comes in handy sometimes."
Kiara took a sip of her drink. "She sounds amazing ."
JJ finally picked up his cup, leaning back in his chair holding the same grin that never left. "Yeah, she is." he uttered.
"She'll get better, JJ. She's too cool not to."
"Thanks, Kie."
His eyes drifted over to hers. They're soft and don't have this vail of hostility in them. They're warm. They're bright. They're sweet.
Has her eyes always been this beautiful?
