"I'm so glad you came to meet with me today." William spoke, taking out a green folder.William Ingram is a long time friend and part time landlord for the Maybanks and most of the block down their street. He's a small man only being five three with a little bit of weight to him. Bald but fairly shiny head with a black or blue suit, depending on the occasion. For this one ,it's black.
Mary and Luke gotten a call this morning asking if they can make it to his office. Considering their circumstances, they couldn't say no in fear of it being something they hadn't hoped.
"So is everything alright?" Mary asked, giving him slightly worried eyes.
His expression is hesitant and not pleasing to their liking. "Yes and no."
Luke knitted his brows, not understanding what he means by that. "What do you mean yes and no?"
"Well, remember when I gave you the extension on your rent a couple months ago?"
They nodded.
"Yeah, I'm gonna have to cut it short."
Within seconds Mary's face fell in confusion. "What? Why?"
"My partner isn't haven it, you guys missed four months worth of rent, and he believes you won't be able to pay it off."
"So what? You're kicking us out?" Luke is more than dissatisfied and disappointed, and all for the right reasons.
William shook his head. "No, no of course not, I told him to give you another chance....it'll just be a little shorter than before." he opened up the green folder. Took out a piece of paper and handed it to them.
Mary grabbed it. Her and Luke skimmed it over, seeing nothing but words and numbers jumbling together to make a final agreement.
"There are other people in your position right now." He explained. "Obviously not as intense as yours, however giving them and you guys passes only creates tension among the other residents."
Mary looked up while handing the paper to her husband. "And you don't want it to seem like you're playing favorites."
He didn't say anything because his expression did it for him. With palms together and pursed lips, he sighed through his nose. He wanted to give them as much time as possible. He really did. But equity is big thing they cherish and it wouldn't be right, no matter how much he disagrees.
Luke set the paper on the desk. "So how long do we have?"
"Until the end of the year."
They nodded once more, agreeing to the new date.
"Okay, thank you." Mary got up holding her purse , leaving the office.
William stood up as well. "Again, I am so sorry."
Luke shrugged, "It's okay, you did what you had to do, no hard feelings."
He walked out the door, closing it on the way. William stands there feeling guilty for he had done.
The summer is looking really dull for the Maybanks.

Hey y'all🤪
So guess who's out of school?😃
Well I left early cuz I have a surgery I have to go to on Monday so....yeah.
But anyways, sorry this chapter is short but I felt like it was needed. I might also start making some chapters solemnly focus on one thing throughout. I feel that could help me out so much and not make my brain explode😅
Until next time square groupersSincerely Nicole❤️
