JJ grabs his keys. He goes back to the front of the store and scans the area checking that it's still intact. The floors are cleaned, registers are checked and boards are placed neatly back on the walls. He left out the door, locking it shut. On his way to his motorcycle, he saw a car pull in front of him. It looked familiar. Its bright headlights stopped beaming once the door opened revealing a curly haired brunette."Kie-"
She peaked around the car, "Hey stranger."
"What are you doing here?"
"What do you mean? This is a public place isn't it?" she motioned to the surf shack closing the door behind.
"Yeahhh, well we're close. Unless you came to see me, which is so unlike you." he said sarcastically.
"Sorry to disappoint but everything is not about you."
He chuckled, "Really, so getting me and JB out of jail wasn't about me?"
"No, it was for your mom, remember?"
He nodded, "Right, for my mom. In that case I should get to her," he left her continuing to his bike.
Kiara took a few steps forward "But since you're so conceited, I guess today can be about you or whatever."
As JJ hopped on he looked at her, "What did you say?" he asked almost double checking if he heard correctly.
"Don't be so shocked, all I said was that we can hang, I'm bored."
"Ah, so you want to hang out because your friends left you on the ringer to dry?"
"Yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing. I am using you so I can get free surfing lessons and a cool board." she joked, crossing her arms.
"Fine, we're taking my ride, though." he patted the back of his bike.
She immediately shut down the offer, "There's no way I'm getting on that thing."
"Why not? It'll be fun."
"See that's where you're wrong. Fun is going surfing, or an amusement park, or even traveling to new areas in the world. It is not riding a motorcycle that I could possibly die on with you. That is a nightmare I don't want to live."
He started the engine, "Okay then. if you're just scared then that makes sense."
"Excuse me?"
"Face it, you're a wuss, a scardy cat, uh...a wimp. And that's okay, I mean I wouldn't expect someone like you to ride anyway."
She let out an offended laugh, "You know what, fine, I'll go just to show your scrawny ass that I'm nothing like a wuss, " she walked over feeling dubious about the whole thing but complied anyway.
Her leg swung over as she sat. Her hands laid on her thighs, not wanting to touch him. JJ glanced behind letting a small giggle slip.
"You can't sit like that."
"Why?"
"You're gonna fall off."
She looked around her, "They don't have seat belts on this thing?"
He laughed again, " No, you have to...y'know," he acted out a hugging position.
She raised her brows, "I have to hug you?"
"Yes, Kiara, I don't have cooties and I don't have fleas."
"Hm, good to know."
She sighed, staring at the back of him. Her arms started to snake themselves around his torso. The light fabric of his shirt felt so soft and so warm. Feeling the subtle defineness of his abs, made her internally cringe. Her hands clasped together once they met around him. This was a whole new territory for her. She's never been this close to him before. The last time was different. The circumstance of it all wasn't something where she was actually weirded out by. It was a form of comfort that she would've done for any of her friends that went through what he did. But now it's totally different. She can practically smell the ocean salt and freshwater emit from his body and his soft hairs touching her cheek. Kiara didn't know what else to do, so she rested her head on his back not wanting to rest it on his shoulder. She felt this uncomfortable feeling twisting in her stomach. Unbeknownst to her, JJ's breath hitched just a bit. He, too, felt unnatural about it.
