"You sure you want to close alone, you've only been here for a week and a half?" Myra asked, grabbing her purse.
"I'm a big kid, I can take it." He responded wiping down the counters, "Plus I've seen you do it, how hard could it be."
"Fine, but make sure you check everything before leaving, don't want boss to beat my ass for your dumb mistake." She instructed taking out her keys.
"Noted, have a good night."
She gave him a salute while heading out the door.
He finishes up moving all of the belongings back onto the counter. Then takes the cleaning supplies to the back storage room. It wasn't as of a busy day as it was last week but it wasn't boring either. Civilians came in and came out. Rented, bought, or borrowed. Nothing more nothing less. All that matters is that he gets his money and tries to help with extra bills they unfortunately might not be able to pay.
He walks out with his backpack. Zipping up it closed JJ pulls out his phone checking the time. It's five minutes before closing. Perfect. But before he calls it a night something feels off. Scanning around the shop he notices something. Her board. It isn't there.
Setting down his bag JJ walking over to the back patio leading down to the public beach. She's been out there for three hours. Kiara needed to clear her mind. So she put her phone in her bag and surfed until her heart was satisfied. She danced with the waves and moved with the sea finally letting the rhythm of the water consume all of her stress.
As he's strolling he begins to see her small silhouette. She's hugging her knees with the lavender board by her side. She's fixated on the moon with her toes buried in the slightly warm sand. Her hair is damp as it rests gracefully on her shoulders with a towel wrapped around them keeping her clothes from getting wet. She glances to her left hearing light footsteps coming her way.
"Got worried about me ,I see." She mumbled, looking back at the sky.
"No, but would it be so bad if I did?"
She chuckles, "Careful, your soft spots are showing."
"Oof, you're right, I hate you."
A small grin is painted on her lips, "Much better."
Following her gaze he ambles closer to her before lowering himself to the ground as well. They sit a foot apart existing in the silence as the ocean clash against the stones and runs up the shore.
"You can take it y'know, it's not mine anyway."
"What?" He said, looking over to her.
"The board, that's what you're here for, right?" She questioned, meeting his gaze.
"Oh, uh, yeah, but-"
"But nothing just take it, okay."
"I am, I just wanted-"
