Chapter 204 🔞

Things had finally settled down after everyone had flooded into the hospital suite to meet the newest additions to the Shepherd family. Derek looked around the quiet room...there were flowers, gifts, balloons and cards everywhere. He snuggled up behind Meredith on the queen sized bed and let out a deep sigh. They were finally alone. Meredith had drifted off to sleep after the exhaustion finally set in and the twins were in the nursery getting a more thorough examination by their new pediatrician. He missed them already. He draped his arm around her waist and buried his face in the back of her hair...breathing her in. She stirred a little and placed her hand on top of his across her belly.

Meredith: Are you happy?
Derek: More than words can say...
Meredith: Me too...they are so beautiful...I still can't believe we made them...
Derek: (kisses her hair)...Well...you did the hard part...I did the fun part...
Meredith: (grins)...Too bad there won't be any fun part for a while...
Derek: So you really meant that..the no sex with me...ever...ever...ever..
Meredith: (giggles)...Did I say that?
Derek: Yep...
Meredith: I don't remember saying that...
Derek: I do...

She turned around to face him and giggled some more when she saw his sad blues eyes and his bottom lip poking out at her...

Meredith: (grins and strokes his cheek)...Do you really think I meant that?
Derek: (grins)...I guess not...(sighs)...but it still hurt my feelings...
Meredith: (giggles)...I'm sorry...I was in a lot of pain...like excrutiating pain...forgive me?
Derek: (pulled her close as she snuggled against him)...I forgive you...I'll wait for the sex...
Meredith: Six weeks...
Derek: (frowns)..Six weeks! Seriuosly...six weeks! That's insane!
Meredith: (grins)...Hey I didn't make the rule...didn't you read it in the baby book?
Derek: I skipped that chapter...
Meredith: (strokes his chest)...Don't worry...the time will fly by...anyway...we'll be too sleep deprived to think about it...
Derek: Hmmm...let me think about that...sex with my hot wife...or sleep...sex with me sexy wife...or sleep...thats a no brainer...
Meredith: (grins)...Yeah...you say that now...
Derek: (grins)...Trust me...I'll always say that...
Meredith: (sighs)...We'll see about that loverboy...(snuggles up closer to him)...I'm so glad you made it baby...I couldn't have done it without you daddy
Derek: (kisses the top of her hair)..You did a good job mommy...Sorry I was late...
Meredith: I was beginning to think you wouldn't make it in time...
Derek: Well I almost didn't...the past couple of days have been hell on earth...(rubs her back)...but nothing was going to stop me from getting here...
Meredith: (sighs)...And your parents are ok...where did you find them?
Derek: Actually...they found us...
Meredith: What!
Derek: We were trying to get permission to identify the bodies of Nora and Thomas Shepherd at the Health department when there was an American couple at the US embassy claiming to be Nora and Thomas Shepherd...it was unreal...then they wouldn't allow us to leave to see who the couple was that was making such a fuss...they held us there for a couple of hours...that is until they received a call from God knows who...I could have sworn I heard them say Ellis Grey...
Meredith: Seriously!
Derek: I don't know...I cant be sure...they werent speaking English so...
Meredith: Well...my mother did mention calling in a few favors but...
Derek: Wow...that's awesome...and...a little scary...
Meredith: Wow...I had no idea...
Derek: Anyway...as soon as they got off the phone with this person...we were free to go meet my parents at the embassy...it was so incredible to finally see their faces after all this...
Meredith: That's amazing...where had they been all this time?
Derek: They were staying at a village several miles away from where they were originally believed to be...apparently they had gone from village to village helping people that were too sick to get to them...before they knew it...they were miles away from where they were supposed to be...somehow the word got out to them that their son was looking for them so they dropped everything and hitched a ride to the embassy to get more information...
Meredith: What an incredible story! I'm just so glad you all came back to us...I was so scared...delivering these babies without you was just not an option for me...
Derek: (sighs)..I'm so sorry you had to go through all that...
Meredith: It wasn't your fault baby...you had to go...and I had to believe that you would come back to us...
Derek: (smiles)...And here I am...
Meredith: (smiles)...Yes...here you are...(looks up and kisses him softly on the lips)...right where you belong...
