Broken Rockstar Part 2

Chapter 225

After much preparation, the concert had finally arrived. It was a day long event that was held outside at a footbal stadium...it started at noon and wasn't scheduled to finish until well into the evening...the schedule was packed with various artists just like Derek had predicted...he brought along the new tour bus so that Mae and the twins could also attend and stay until it was over...also...so that he and Meredith would be able to check on them whenever they wanted...they were almost a year old now and were becoming quite a handful...getting into everything that wasn't bolted down...talking more and more and trying their best to take a few steps...Shane was very laid back...at least until the music came on...while Sadie was a ball of energy...she was still much smaller than Shane but she always did her best to keep up with him...

Derek was scheduled to go on shortly...he stood backstage waiting for Cold Play to finish their performance...enjoying the concert as well...it was strange to stand there all alone...the band had already started performing with other groups...as much as he hated the idea of it...he had to accept it...still it hurt to be without them...

On a happier note...his label was doing extremely well...he had already signed five new artists...more than he thought he would have this soon...several more had promised to join him once their contracts were up with other labels...things had progressed so quickly after the Grammys...thank God the chief and George were there to help...

The concert was the buzz of the city...everybody who was anybody was there...so far everything was going so well...they had raised millions of dollars in ticket sales alone...there was also a telethon set up to take phone and internet donations as well...Derek had a good feeling that they would have more than enough money to finish the orphanage and the art school...still...it was too soon to tell...

Steven was also doing well...Cristina allowed him to attend the concert for a couple of hours to see Derek's performance with the promise that they would keep him backstage away from the crowd...after that he would have to return to the hospital to be monitored...Meredith brought him back stage to get settled before Derek's performance...it was perfect timing...Derek's thoughts still wandered back to the band and as excited as he was about the success of the concert...being there alone only made him miss them even more...but as soon as he saw Steven and Meredith...his face lit up with joy...

Steven: Hello Mr. Derek!
Derek: Hey buddy! You made it!
Steven: Yes I did!
Derek: Hey you! (kisses Meredith softly on the lips)
Meredith: Hey baby! Are you ready for this?
Derek: (sighs)...As ready as I'll ever be.
Meredith: (hugs him tight)You're going to do great!
Derek: (smiles)...Thanks...(looks down at Steven)...How are you feeing?
Steven: I am well...getting stronger everyday...
Derek: That's good! We have a very comfortable seat for you right back here...best seat in the house...
Meredith: (kisses the top of Steven's head)...Right next to mine...
Steven: (smiles as he sits down)...Thank you...

Meredith: (gently rubs Derek's ass) How is it?
Derek: (grins) Its seen better days.
Meredith: (giggles)...I'm sure it has...

Derek looked out at the stage and took a deep breath as Meredith slid her arm around his waist and rested her head on his shoulder...

Meredith: Are you ok?
Derek: (sighs)...Yeah...just...I...
Steven: (stands up and takes Derek's hand)...Is your heart hurting again Mr. Derek?
Derek: (bends down to look at him)...Yes...it is...
Steven: I'm sorry...
Derek: Me too...but...I'm taking the advice that my beautiful wife gave you...
Steven: Yes!
Meredith: (smiles)...And what is that?
Derek: I'm going to do it anyway...they would want me to...
Meredith: Yes...they would...(smiles)...I'm so proud of you Derek.
Steven: (smiles)...Me too...
Derek: (stands up)...Thanks guys...(sighs as they begin to introduce him on stage)...well...here goes nothing...
Steven: Break a leg Mr. Derek...
Derek: You got it!
Meredith: (playfully narrows her eyes at him)..Keep your shirt on...and now towel throwing...
Derek: (winks at her)...Got it.
Meredith: You can do this...
Derek: Yes...I can...
Meredith: (kisses him softly on the lips) I love you...
Derek: (smiles)...Forever...
