Chapter 220 🔞

Derek instantly fell to his knees...allowing Steven to run into his arms...he held his little body tight as his eyes welled up with tears...he had not seen his good friend in a while and he really missed him...he lifted him up into the air and took a good look at him...unable to stop smiling...making sure that it wasn't a dream...

Derek: I can't believe you're really here...its really you...
Steven: Yes...I'm here...is your heart better Mr. Derek?
Derek: Yes...it is...it's a lot better...what about yours?
Steven: Not so good I'm afraid...

Derek could see the sadness in Steven's eyes as he shared the information with him...

Derek: What do you mean? Are you ok?

Meredith placed her hand on Derek's back...gently rubbing it as he looked down at her in confusion...

Meredith: Steven has been having problems with his heart...he's here in the states to get a second opinion...we brought him here so Cristina's could take a look at him...
Derek: We?
Nora: Your dad and I flew over to get him...
Derek: You did?
Kitty: So did Rob and I...we took Jeremy too...he wanted to see the new hospital his aunt and uncle helped build...it's a beautiful facility...we're so proud of you guys...
Nora: Yes we are...and we saw the desperate need for the orphanage and we want to help...
Sara: We all do...
Julia: Whatever we can do to help...
Thandie: We'll do it...
Tom: Just name it...
Nora: The whole Shepherd clan...

Derek could no longer hold back the tears...he was already taken back by the surprise of holding Steven in his arms...but the incredible outpouring of love by his family was so unexpected...he looked down at Meredith and saw the tears in her eyes in addition to the bright smile...he reached down to tenderly stroke her cheek...

Derek: (smiles)..You knew about all this...
Meredith: (sighs with a smile)...I did...
Derek: (chuckles)...So sneaky...
Meredith: (raises eyebrow)...Good thing we're building a house there...
Derek: (smiles)...Good thing...

He pulled her closer to his side and leaned down to kiss the top of her head as she snuggled against his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist...he then took a deep breath and looked around at everyone as he tried to gather his emotions long enough to speak...

Derek: Thank you all so much...this means a lot to us...(smiles at Steven)...right Steven...
Steven: (smiles)...Right...
Jeremy: So can we open presents now?

Everyone burst into laughter...Derek lowered Steven to the floor and grabbed Meredith's hands as he looked into her happy tearfilled green eyes...so beautiful...so amazing...

Derek: (smiles)...Of course we can Jeremy...I just need to go make out with my wife first...
Jeremy: (giggles)...You mean suck face dont you uncle Derek?...Cool...auntie Meredis is still a hottie...
All the kids: (yell)...Ewwwwwwww...yuck!
Kitty: Jeremy!
Jeremy: What? Dad said so.(Kitty glares at Rob while all the adults laugh)...
Rob: Uh...presents...yeah...time for presents...

Everyone moves towards the tree while Derek discretely pulls Meredith into the kitchen for some much needed privacy...

As soon as they reached the kitchen...Derek swung Meredith over to the refrigerator and cupped her face in his hands...crashing his lips on to hers for a passionate kiss that took her breath away...she could feel the full array of emotions running through him as his heart pounded against hers and his tongue explored every part of her delicious mouth...making her weak in the knees. She ran her hands through his dark curls...enjoying the taste of his firm lips pressing against hers...they were both so lost in the incredible moment that they didn't hear Tom walk in and open the oven door completely unfazed by the two insatiable lovers...
