Chapter 215 🔞

The final concert went well despite the tension...performing knowing that this could be their last time as a group was beyond difficult...but they did it anyway...they were professionals...they owed it to the fans...they owed it to each other...

It was hard for Derek to look to the side of the stage and not see Meredith's beautiful face there smiling back at him...or flashing her boobs...nothing felt right without her there...she was his #1 fan...his bright light...and his pillar of strength...he couldn't wait to be with her and the twins...they were the only things in his life that really made sense...his love for them was beyond words...

They sat on the plane in silence...there was nothing more to say...Derek was not going to sing with out the band and the band didn't want to sing for any body else but him...still they each knew how much music meant to them...it would be hard to give it up...

Meredith: Hey you...
Derek: Hey...We're on our way home...
Meredith: Good...we miss you...
Derek: I miss you guys too...I've been calling all night...is everything ok?
Meredith: Its fine now...How was the show?
Derek: It was good...bittersweet...
Meredith: How is the band holding up?
Derek: I'm not sure...they've been pretty quiet since the concert...I'm sure they have a lot on their mind...
Meredith: Yeah...I'm sure...What about you? How are you doing?
Derek: Truth?
Meredith: Always...

Derek: (sighs)...It feels like somebody died...like I'm grieving...
Meredith: Well in a since you are...for the loss of the band...
Derek: Yeah...its like someone ripped my heart out...
Meredith: Oh baby...I know its hard...You guys have been together forever...it's has to be a devastating loss as a musician...but remember...they will always be a part of our family no matter what they or you decide to do...
Derek: I'm not going to play without them Meri...I just can't...
Meredith: Well...I will support whatever you decide Derek...just make sure that you do it for the right reasons...
Derek: What do you mean?
Meredith: I just want you to think things through and not make any hasty decisions...this is a very emotional time and your're still very angry...take some time to let things settle before you decide...promise me you'll do that...
Derek: I promise...
Meredith: (smiles)...Ok...

Derek: I can't wait to hold you in my arms...I miss that warm delicious body of yours...I miss home...
Meredith: Its not home without you baby...
Derek: How are the twins?
Meredith: (smiles)...Shane is great...he has another tooth coming in...
Derek: (smiles)...He does?
Meredith: (giggles)...Yep...and I think he learned a new song today...such a chip off the old block...
Derek: (sighs)...Hopefully not in that sense...I don't want him anywhere near this business...I miss my little prince...can you put him to the phone?
Meredith: He's asleep...I'm still up with Sadie trying to keep her comfortable...she's been so cranky...she won't let me put her down for a second without crying...we've been in and out of the shower all day but it hasn't helped much...she finally let me put her in the swing...I think it helps when she can sit upright...
Derek: Did you call the doctor?
Meredith: Yes...but she didn't offer anything more than what we've been doing and as long as Sadie is still taking fluids and breathing ok there's not much more they can do...we just have to wait it out...
Derek: Do you think she'll be ok to go to Maine for Thanksgiving...its just a couple days away?
Meredith: (sighs)...I don't know...I hope so...maybe Nora has some tricks up her sleeve...and Derek...don't even ask me about packing...I haven't even started...Sadie wouldn't let me put her down long enough...
Derek: Don't worry about that Meri...just concentrate on getting our little princess better...Did she get any sleep?
Meredith: Not for more than twenty minutes at a time...she wakes up coughing...
Derek: Which means she's exhausted and so are you...
Meredith: I'm hanging in there...Mae's here helping with Shane...she gave him a bath and put him to bed...but Sadie's so uncomfortable...I just wish there was something else I could do...she's gotten so clingy...Mae watched her while I hopped in the shower but she cried the whole time...I think she misses her daddy too...
Derek: I miss her too...I miss both my girls...we should be landing in a couple of hours...I'll be there as soon as I can...
Meredith: Ok...
Derek: I love you baby...
Meredith: I love you too...hurry home...
Derek: I will...
