Sada
May 16th, 2020I flick my lighter three times and hold it against the tip of the blunt. I inhale sharply and let the smoke fill my lungs. I put the lighter on the dresser and turn up the music on my phone. I lay flat against my bed and close my eyes blowing out the smoke. The weed instantly soothes my tired body and relaxes me against the plush bed.
Lately, this has been the only thing getting me through my days. Smoking is the only thing I can look forward to when I come home. I don't have my green haired girl and dog to welcome me after a long day.
My eyes drift to my acoustic guitar I'd recently got and I sluggishly roll out of bed to grab it. I start to strum it lightly Another Rainy Day by Corinne Bailey Rae plays and I get an idea.
"I'm going to learn to play this!" I grab my laptop and pull up a tutorial quickly. I look up a beginners video and get to work. "Fuck this is hard already!" I rewind to a specific part and try the chords again and again and again and again.
"God damnit!" I huff in frustration and try the chords again. "Fuck!" I throw my head back in frustration and rewind the video again. "Why did I buy this?"
"Okay start over." I rewind it the video and attempt the first few chords again. Instantly getting excited when I successfully do them. "Fuck yes!"
"Knock knock! Ooo it smells like weed in here," I hear and smile seeing Emery along with Adria.
"Hi friends!" I smile and quickly get up to hug them. "How'd y'all get in my apartment?"
"We let them in." I hear another set of voices and look down the hall seeing Nya, Tori and Kevin. "They said you weren't answering your phone so we decided to show up anyway," Tori explains.
"Oh sorry, I was caught up with this." I point to my guitar and they all look at me confused.
"You play guitar now?" Emery asks in confusion.
"It's just something to keep me busy." I shrug, sitting in my bed beside Kevin who is fiddling with my guitar.
"We still going to the farmers market?" Adria asks and ai glance over to my other group of friends.
"I don't mind." Tori smiles and the other two just shrug. I quickly go to my closet and throw on some baggy jeans I'd stolen from Billie along with a pair of platform boots.
"Celery stick texted you!" Nya yells and I quickly run out of the closet to see. "Damn girl slow down," She hands me my phone and I open the message thread to see what she sent.

yes i do ❤️I roll my eyes and fight off the stupid grin at her newfound sense of humor. It tickles me that she still decides to watch over my front door even a thousand miles away. I lock my phone and slide it in the large pockets.
"Y'all ready?" I ask, breaking their conversations and they all nod. "I'll ride with Em, I'll send the address." I turn my bedroom light off and close my laptop then follow everyone out to the front door. I grab my keys and wait for everyone to leave before locking the door.
"Are you wearing my pants?" I look up at the camera seeing it's glowing meaning Billie is watching.
"Get off the goddamn camera and find you something to do." I laugh and stick my finger up at the camera making her laugh on the other end. I follow Emory onto the elevator and feel my phone vibrate in my pocket.
