Sada
February 19th, 2020"Okay line up!" I tell the kids and they all scurry to the front and get in a line. "Hugs!" I throw my arms open and they all run to me and squeeze the life out of me. "Aww thank you so much!" I say to them patting their little heads. "You guys did so good today!"
"Good enough to get muffins tomorrow?" One of my students Tyler says making everyone go into an uproar.
"I'll see about that." I tell them and they all start talking about the kind of muffins they want. I shake my head but smile at their undying excitement.
"Okay I'll walk you guys out. Say bye to Ms. Sada." My coworker Lily says by the door. They all say bye before scurrying off with Lily to their parents.
"Hannah you're not going with Ms. Lily?" I ask seeing my student sitting on the floor by the cubbies.
"My mom is going to be late." She says sadly and I pout.
"Okay well I can wait with you." I grab my bag and jacket. I walk over to the door hold my hand out for her. Her face lights up and she runs to me. She grabs my hand and we go sit in the lobby together.
"Is your wife going to be mad?" She asks after a while of silence and I shake my head no with a smile.
"No, she's understanding." I tell her giving her a reassuring smile. Billie had visited my class multiple times and they absolutely adored her. Many of the kids knew who she was but some kids just call her my wife instead of Billie.
Many angry parents had emailed and called me after their kids would come home saying they "wanted a wife as pretty as Ms. Sada's." Despite some of the parents' glares they wouldn't dare take their kids out of my class. Their children adored me and they adored Billie. They didn't care about who she is as long as she made sure I got to them safely.
I wish all people were as smart and as accepting as my little babies. They mean the world to me and every class I realize how much I'm lucky to be blessed to have them.
"My mommy's wife is understandable like Ms. Billie." She says and I laugh at the mispronunciation.
"It's understanding Hannah." I tell her with a laugh and she repeats it perfectly.
"Understanding?" She asks saying it perfectly and I nod. She smiles proudly at the fact that she pronounced it right making me smile.
"You have two mommies?" I ask and she nods swinging her little feet back and forth.
"Two mommies and a daddy." She says with the most innocent smile on her face.
"You're very blessed. I bet they love you so much."
"They do- my mommy Sasha is gonna get me a pony!" She yells excitedly and begins to rant about how she's going to ride it to class. After about 15 more minutes of Hannah talking my ears off her mom comes. "Hi mommy!" She instantly runs to her mother and wraps her arms around her legs.
"Hey baby, I'm sorry I'm late." She pouts and bends down to hug her.
"It's okay! Ms. Sada waited with me!" She looks over at me and her mother stands to shake my hand.
"Nice to meet you again. Sorry, I'm hardly ever late but her father couldn't come pick her up and my wife is stuck in traffic."
"Oh it's no problem! I don't mind waiting." I wave her off.
"Mommy Ms. Sada has a wife too!" Hannah blurts out making me and her mother laugh.
"I remember baby. Tell Ms. Sada bye so she can get home." Hannah runs back to me and hugs my legs. I bend down some to hug her.
