March 2nd, 2021"Ma! Tell your daughter to stop cheating!" Maddy huffs, folding her arms across her chest.
"Stop all that whining chile! You do this every time y'all play!"
"Because peanut brain thinks she can throw a draw 4 on a draw 2!"
"I can!" I yell back and throw yet another draw two on top. Kevin and Nya bust out laughing at the look on Maddison's face. She throws her cards down and storms away from the table like a cry baby.
"I'm going to sit with my mama." She huffs and sits next to our mom to snuggle up to her.
"Such a cry baby!" I tease but feel the little girl in me get jealous seeing my mom wrap her arm around Maddy. "Uh uh! Mama! Mama get off her!" I throw my cards down and storm over to the two of them.
"Here she go." Kevin says from across the room.
"Mama what you doing?!"
"Hugging my child! What you doing?"
"Coming to put a stop to this." I gesture between the two of them with my index finger. Maddy rolls her eyes and scoffs at me.
"Move Maddy let me hug on my Mama!" I push her out the way and squeeze in between the two of them. "Move stupid."
"No you move!" Maddy groans. "She was my mama first!"
"So she likes me better! Go hug Hector!"
"Stay over there big bird!" Hectors loud voice says from the kitchen.
"Shut up bowling ball head!"
"At least my head not shaped like a traffic light!" He yells back making Kevin holler with laughter.
"The both of you please stop all that fussing!" She probably wishes she never invited us over. "The two of you are about to get up! Getting on my last nerves." She says in irritation and I frown but don't make any movements to get up. As if I'm a small child again I instantly feel tired in her presence. Mama's have the warmest skin for some reason.
"Both of y'all look pitiful." Kevin says from behind the couch. I flip him the bird and go back to playing with my mother's brass bracelets on her wrists.
"How you feeling today Ma?" I ask just above a whisper. Yesterday she wasn't feeling too hot so we all decided to come over. She'd said she was feeling achy and lonely so what better way to cheer her up than to bring all her children.
It wouldn't be us if we didn't decide to cook for her. She of course has had plenty of time to cook for herself but it's always nice to have seven other people doing it. Well, three only me, Hector and Tori did all the cooking.
We cooked so much food it's enough for all of us to take home. With all the new recipes on the restaurant's menu, thanks to Hector we were all buzzing with excitement to try everything. Hector knows how to put some food together.
"Much better baby." She pats my side assuringly. I could tell by the small pep in her step that is being here was just what she needed. I'll have to make time for my old girl more often. "How's daughter in law?"
"She's alright, working as always." Last I heard was she was watching Henry for the week and would be shooting a music video. Of course I have no idea for what, she hasn't given me any sneak peeks of anything besides Happier Than Ever and her idea for everything.
I'm really excited to see how everything turns out and to get a full listen. She's worked so hard on this one and she says that this is the best project she's ever made. I'm sure the world will agree.
